The Location & Event
The Willow Time Trial is held at Willow MetroPark, located near Romulus Michigan, east of I-275 off of South Huron Road
(exit 11), six miles south of I-94. Check in is at the “Pool - Activity Area.” A park entrance permit is required. The one day
permit cost is $10.00 per vehicle unless you have an annual MetroParks permit available for $35.
The Willow Time Trial is part of the Michigan Challenge Points series and is a Nationally Ranked Event! The event consists
of 6 laps on a flat course in a low traffic area for a total of 13.2 miles. Electronic timing provided. Event will be held rain or

Event Rules
All USA Cycling rules apply. An ANSI/Snell approved helmet is required. No drafting is allowed. Riders start 30 seconds
apart. 6 laps must be completed; there will be no time allowance for less or more than 6 laps. Riders should go outside of the

finish line chute on the 1 5 laps, and through the finish line chute on the 6 final lap.
Riders are responsible to be at the start line on time. Riders who miss their start time will be given at the discretion of race
officials the following options:
1) Continue with the originally assigned start time. Rider will start late and in effect have a time penalty.
2) Receive a new assigned start time. Rider will receive an accurate time but won’t appear in the results/standings.
In the timing notes at the bottom of the results, rider elapsed time will appear based on the new assigned time.
Timers will only accept a revised start time affecting results/standings from the chief referee in case of a starting line mishap,
or from the event promoter in case of an event mishap.
The Eddy Mercks Category, for men and women, is for the traditionalist rider on a regular road bike:
- No skin suit
No aero helmet, no helmet cover
- No aero shoes, no shoe covers
No aero handlebars
- No aero bike frames
No frame tube can be elongated more than a 2 to 1 ratio
- No wheels with a rim over 30mm deep
A valid USA Cycling license is required to compete in this event. Purchase annual licenses on-line at www.usacycling.org.
We can sell you a one day license ($10) if you don’t have an annual license; payment MUST be included with your entry
form. A signed Standard USA Cycling Athlete Release Form available at www.usacycling.org should be included with your
entry form, or it will be available at check in day of event. Senior riders with one day licenses may only race as Sr. Men Cat 5
or Sr. Women Cat 4. Riders participating in the Michigan Challenge Points series must enter in their Michigan Challenge
category.
Results will be formally posted after all riders have completed for a 15 minute protest period. Riders may question any results
with the USA Cycling Chief Referee. At the end of the protest period all results are FINAL and the award ceremony will
begin. No changes to results will be made after the protest period ends and we leave the event. It is the participant
responsibility to validate their time prior to leaving the event.

Medals will be awarded to the top 3 finishers in each category. 1 place finisher in each category receives their entry fee.
Prize awarded for fastest male and fastest female. Medals and prizes will be given out only during the Award Ceremony at
the conclusion of the event; they will not be mailed afterwards.
Event Schedule
Check in opens at 7:30am and is open throughout the event. Junior rollout begins at 8am. First rider starts at 8:30am.
Results are posted after all riders complete for a 15 minute protest period. Award Ceremony occurs after results are final.

Riders participating in the Michigan Challenge Points series should enter the Willow Time Trial in their Michigan
Challenge category. Senior riders with one day licenses may only race as Sr Men Cat 5 or Sr Women Cat 4.
