A Message from Reverend Granby
Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will perform that good thing which I have
promised unto the house of Israel and to the house of Judah.
(Jeremiah 33:14
KJV)
Grace and peace be unto you from our LORD and savior Jesus.
Greetings to all. this spring is going to be a wonderful time in the life and ministry of our
church. We have prayed for and asked the LORD to seed new methods of ministry that will
galvanize the saints to new heights of fellowship. Now we the First Baptist Church have
launched a Women's and Men's ministry to forge a bond for the believers outside of the
normal Sunday worship. The Women's ministry meets each Saturday in the fellowship hall
from 2 to 4 pm. The ladies have a Zumba dance class and then discuss health and spiritual
concerns affecting the women of today. The Men's ministry shall meet on the second and
fourth Saturdays of each month from 4 to 6pm. The men spend time discussing our faith walk
and concerns of all men. I can proudly say that each of these ministries have already made
an impact in the life of our Church.
This April there will be a revival after the Church universal reflects and celebrates the
resurrection of our LORD Jesus on Sunday, April the 8th. We will have a sunrise worship at
7am on Easter Sunday followed by a "BLESSED BREAKFAST and then we will have our
regular 11am Easter/Resurrection Sunday worship service. The revival services will take
place April 17th, 18th, and 19th at 7 pm in the sanctuary. This revival is designed to have First
Baptist Church interact with other churches and their Pastors thus forging a fellowship
between us and them. We are blessed to have secured three Pastors who will bring and
share the word of the LORD to us in their own unique manner. The visiting Pastors will also
bring their own choir or musical ministry with them.
I am in deep prayer for the Spirit of the LORD to move on the hearts of all involved in every
aspect of ministry. This moving of hearts will bring this wonderful house of worship into an
anointing like never before. It is my prayer that all will be blessed and find a renewed sense of
energy and faith in the LORD Jesus who is The Christ.
Walking in His Grace,
Rev. Lamont S. Granby, Pastor

Penny Project - a message from Lisa Harris
You are making it happen. We’ve reached 7 million pennies toward our goal of 14
million pennies.! 7 million pennies or $70,000 has been put to work on behalf of
children in need in communities around the U.S. and Puerto Rico. You are making it
happen in your community.
It has taken three years to reach this 7 million mark. We still cannot visualize
what 14 million looks like, but given the length of time it has taken us to accumulate
this number of pennies around the nation, we know 14 million is far too high a number
of children in need in our communities.
Continue to raise pennies and change to raise awareness and change lives of
children in poverty in or near your community.
Easter Penny Project Banks
On Sunday, Aril 1st , the children of our church will hand out plastic eggs that they
decorated and made into banks. Please take one or two home with you and fill them
with your pennies and other change.
Bring them back on Easter Sunday. The money will go towards children living in
poverty in Westchester County.
Black History Program and Dinner
This year’s Black History month event,” Let Us Sing and Dance Before The
Lord”, took place on Sunday, February 12th. Reverend Granby opened us up with
scripture, prayer and a warm welcome. I had the honor of introducing the
afternoon’s entertainment. The program featured the Voices of Virtue, Inc., a
choir of talented youths composed of current and former Hempstead High
School choir members. They have performed in Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center,
and have received awards internationally in both Verona, Italy and recently in
Prague. The founder and Executive Director of the choir is Rachel Blackburn, an
accomplished musician. This outstanding Hempstead Select Chorale performed
six Negro spirituals with such precision and clarity. What an amazing musical
journey for those in attendance.
The afternoon was also one in which the congregation was introduced to
the Liturgical Rainbow Dancers of Friendship Baptist Church, under the
direction of Linda Kilgore. Mrs. Kilgore explained that the dance they were to
present generally had more dancers. Even though they were not in full force ,
the two dancers gave a very spirited and uplifting performance.
The 45 minute program ended with a very moving rendition by the Voices
of Virtue, Inc., of renowned gospel composer, Richard Smallwood’s Total Praise.
We were then treated to a delectable meal of soul food, as organized by Audrey
Staton.

God’s providential care, encouragement, hope and assurance that they have not been
forgotten by their ABC family.
