Parkview Middle School Parent‐Teacher Conferences October 22 and October 27, 2015 4:30 – 8:30 PM Conferences Occur By Appointment Only By now you likely have signed up for a parent-teacher conference with one of your child’s teachers during back-to-school night. Or, one of your child’s teachers contacted you after back-to-school night to secure your conference date/time. Scheduled conferences will occur beginning at 4:30 and conclude at 8:30. The purposes of fall parent‐teacher conferences are to provide you with: 1. A relationship‐building experience with you and your child’s team on behalf of one of your child’s core team of teachers. 2. A general overview of student performance 3. Reflections over participation in classrooms Traditional face-to-face parent-teacher conferences have long since diminished in importance when it comes to information sharing as technology has evolved, creating additional avenues for parents to communicate with teachers and partner about a student’s progress. For this fall, we will phase in continuous conversations with parents and teachers through Infinite Campus, email, teacher web pages and building webpages. We will also provide a 10-15 minute traditional conference with one of your child’s team of teachers who will generally represent overarching information from across the team. If you wish more detailed or specific information, we ask that you make a phone call or email connection with teachers outside of the parent-teacher conference structure. During our spring conference time will fully transition to the use of ongoing digital communication systems and will no longer be bound by a single night for individual meetings. If you feel a compelling need to meet with one or more of your child’s teachers, or if a teacher or team feels compelled to meet with a parent in person, those meetings can be scheduled on an individual basis and may occur at any time during the school year.
