Welcome Message
We have had another busy week at Ryecroft Academy. Some of
our young people in Year 1 were lucky enough to attend trips out
on Wednesday and Thursday and they represented the Academy
superbly. Well done Year 1 - we are proud of you all!
At Ryecroft we have re-launched our positive discipline policy so
the children should be informing you each day about dojo points,
postcards and any certificates they receive. Well done to all of you
that are well on the to bronze awards already!
This is a short reminder of the rules, rewards and sanctions we are using with the
children in classes. We really appreciate in advance your support with this.
Ryecroft Stars of the Week
Well done to all of our Stars of the Week. They have been
demonstrating excellent behaviour for learning, maths champions,
reading and writing stars and even great friends.
Year 3 Jaguars were revealing their emotions
through
colours. The
children made
awesome art
work that
portrayed their
characters.
Elephants embraced art for
the heart day and produced
these wonderful heart/art
pictures based on the work
of Piet Mondrian the famous
Dutch artist.

Forest School
Forest School this week has seen a lovely
combination of nature and nurture!
Our pupils have been learning to develop trust
amongst their peers. Pupils were busy organising,
cooperating and solving problems during our
energetic team challenges. Pupils showed a lot of
respect, patience and heaps of enthusiasm while
out in the woodland.
School Nurse
Year 5 and 6 spoke to the school nurse this week.
Girls and boys in Year 5 and 6 split into groups to
discuss changes with the school nurse and Mr.
Lonsdale. They discussed the how we develop as
we grow older both from an academic and personal
perspective.
They established the importance of keeping clean
and healthy by looking after our body as well as the
changes that begin to happen as children grow
older and become teenagers.
Internet Safety
Attendance
Thanks again to all parents that ensure your
children attend regularly to school.
It is a crucial and very important habit for children to
form at an early age (It is harder when they reach
Secondary school). We have an attendance target
of 96% for the whole school and need everyone's
help in ensuring we reach it or surpass it! There
will of course be class prizes for the best as well as
individual prizes for most improved attendance as
we move through the year. The best thing you can
do to support us is to continue to bring your child to
school every day, on time, with the right equipment
and ready for learning. We will update you on the
progress we make each week in this newsletter.
This week has been Internet Safety Week.
Within class and during assemblies, children have
been leaning how to stay safe whilst using the
internet, including the use of social media.
They heard stories to explain why it is important to
protect usernames and passwords as well as when
playing games on the internet.
Remember:
• Never upload photographs including a child
wearing their school uniform;
• Agree to meet up with strangers online;
• Tell parents and carers if you feel threatened;
• Never give out personal information to people
online;

to keep
your child
safe online.
