Dear Parents and Carers
As always it has been another busy week for the children here at Pinkwell. They are continuing to work hard and
enjoying their learning. Please can I ask that you help them to have enjoyable play time by making sure they come to
school in suitable clothes. I think you will agree that it is getting very cold now and as I have said in previous letters,
our playgrounds are very open and get very windy and cold.
In the last couple of weeks we have had many exciting events for the children to take part in and enjoy - for example
“The Bug Man” visiting Year 3, Adisa the Poet who came in and performed his poetry to the whole school and then
delivered workshops to some students in Years 3-6 and an interactive and engaging performance of Macbeth to our
Year 6 students.
With the end of term and Christmas fast approaching things are getting even busier at Pinkwell. We have detailed
below the important dates to see you through to the end of the year.
Best wishes
Mrs Okoro

muddle!

Nursery
Everyone really enjoyed the story “Aliens Love Underpants”. Children recreated the
story pretending to be aliens - ask your child to tell you all about their favourite alien.
Reception
Reception have been focusing on the Julia Donaldson story 'Room
on the Broom' and have been mixing all sorts of potions. Ask your
child about the characters in the story and what adventures they
have been up to!
Year 1
Year 1 have been learning about bullying this week as it is Anti-Bullying week. We have had lots of discussions about
what bullying is and how we can help to stop it. It would be lovely if you can carry this on at home and discuss what
the word means and how we can work together to stamp out bullying! For PE, please can you bring in trousers or
jogging bottoms for your child to wear - they go outside for this lesson once a week and it is too cold for shorts!
Year 2
In English Year 2 have begun reading 'The Twits' by Roald Dahl. We will be doing lots of
activities based on this story. In Maths we have been learning about money and time and will
soon begin to look at measurement. We all have individual writing targets which we will
continue to work hard at this term.
Year 3
The Year 3 children have had a very exciting week. In IPC, we have tasted rainforest fruits and created our own
smoothies in class. In Science we have created our own butter to explore reversible and irreversible changes.
Year 4
Year 4 have had a fun filled few weeks looking into life in the Victorian ages. We
are also looking forward to the pantomime of Aladdin and our other school trip to
The V&A Museum. Can I please remind you that swimming has now finished for
th
the Autumn term – we will start back at the pool on the 11 January 17. For Art
Week, could you please save any junk/recycling boxes for the classes to create
models of some famous buildings linked to our chosen country.
Year 5
Year 5 are looking forward to going on the Sky Studio trip. Please make sure
you return your permission slip, consent form and £8 to your class teacher as
soon as possible. We have been enjoying learning about fractions in Maths and
narrative in English. We are looking forward to the Aladdin pantomime and
Around the World Week next week; our chosen continent will be Europe.
Year 6
Year 6 began their week watching a production of Macbeth. This leads nicely
into their English unit. In Maths, we will be looking at 'Statistic'. Don't forget that
next week Year 6 will be visiting Sky Studios where they will get to film their own
advertisement.
