CONDITIONS
All hounds entered in this show must be American, English, Cross-Bred or Penn-Marydel
Foxhounds belonging to packs recognized or registered by the Masters of Foxhounds Association of America. ENTERED HOUNDS must have been accepted by the Keeper of the Stud
Book of the M.F.H.A. and UNENTERED HOUNDS, which, for the purpose of this show,
have been whelped since December 1, 2012, must be eligible for acceptance by the Keeper
of the Stud Book.
In the Cross-Bred Division all classes will be divided into 2 rings. Ring 2 is designated
to packs which reported less than 35 couple total in kennel in 2013. Ring 3 is designated for
packs which reported 35 couple or more total in kennel in 2013.
EACH HUNT MAY SHOW TWO (2) ENTRIES PER CLASS. A MAXIMUM OF
FOUR (4) ENTRIES PER CLASS MAY BE ENTERED, ANY TWO (2) OF WHICH MAY
BE SHOWN. Entries not shown should be scratched with the Secretary at least thirty
minutes previous to the start of the Show.
THE ENTRY FEE IS $15.00 for each entry, up to two (2) for each class, except pack
classes, (Maximum $30.00 per class). The entry fee for the Pack Classes (Classes 20, 39, 66
and 91 is $20.00 per entry). Payment of entry fees must accompany Entry Forms.
The Committee, by returning the entry fee, reserves the right to refuse any entry or to
cancel any class that does not fill. No ribbon or cup will be given in any class failing to have
entries from at least two different exhibitors. If there are not three or more entries in a class,
there will be no second or third award.
In classes for ENTERED HOUNDS, Masters must certify that each entry is a good
hunting hound as demonstrated by its working ability in the field with the pack. In classes
for UNENTERED HOUNDS, Masters must further certify that it is their intention to enter
these hounds in the pack this autumn.
Hounds drafted from other Hunts, with the exception of unentered hounds, can be shown
only in the Stallion Hound and Brood Bitch classes.
Every hunt exhibiting in this show must be a member of the Virginia Foxhound Club.
Virginia Foxhound Club annual dues are $35.00.
Every entry shall be subject to the rules and regulations of the Executive Committee
of the Virginia Foxhound Club. The decision of this Committee on all questions shall
be final.
All hounds must be named, giving date of entry (except in unentered classes), as well
as name and date of entry of sire and dam. In the Pack Classes and Two Couple Classes
individual hounds need not be named. In the Stallion Hound with Get and Brood Bitch with
Produce Classes, only the stallion and brood bitch hounds need to be named.
The champion foxhound in each division of a MFHA sanctioned show will be permitted to post enter, provided they enter the same classes as in their respective shows. Aside
from this exception there will be no post entries. A total of three substitutions in any one
Division may be made by any exhibitor provided this is done in writing to the Show
Secretary at least thirty minutes prior to the start of the Show. Substitution forms are
available at the Secretary’s desk.
Kennel coats and hunt caps or bowlers must be worn by all hunt staff and others while
showing hounds. Handlers must show in traditional white kennel coats. The Pack Classes
will be shown by the Huntsman and one Whipper-In only. Kennel coats and hunt caps or
4
bowlers MUST be worn while showing in the Pack Classes.
No biscuits or other treats may be used while schooling hounds in the rings prior
to or during the show. Only dry biscuits should be used while showing hounds.
A KENNEL FEE, to be paid at the time of making entry, is $50.00 for each kennel
to be occupied the day of the show unless a Hunt is exempt due to a donation to the
Kennel Fund. Each kennel accommodates only nine hounds. Each exhibitor will
provide its own hound feed.
Clarification: In classes where an entry includes more than a single hound, i.e.,
couples, two-couples, stallion with get, bitch with produce, and pack classes, a second
handler for the entry is permitted in all rings except Penn-Marydel Class 85.
Eligibility: Entries in classes 1 and 4 will not be eligible to compete in classes 2
and 5. Entries in classes 10 and 13 will not be eligible to compete in classes 11 and
14. The winners of classes 10 and 13 will be eligible to compete in class 17. Winning
class 92 does not constitute eligibility for class 93. THE HOUND THAT IS PLACED

COMPETE FOR THE RESERVE CHAMPIONSHIP.
