DEAR SUPPORTER
Jubilee Park is a community owned and run facility- run by its members!,
It’s one reason that Woodhall Spa is such a lovely place to live and a thriving community.
Since reverting to local ownership in 2011, Jubilee Park has gone from strength to
strength thanks to the support of the community and visitors. The pool and caravan site
pay their way and the ongoing costs of maintenance and continuous improvement of the
park, gardens car park and conveniences are covered by any surplus, fund raising, events,
sponsorship and donations.
As you know, long term we need to ensure less weather dependence, a more predictable
income and raise capital for the long overdue refurbishment of the buildings and toilets.
To this end, after months of public consultation with members and the wider community
in 2015, we had the thumbs up for our plans to add all-year-round health and fitness
studio facilities at the same time as revamping the buildings and we have embarked on
the tortuous minefield of grant applications (any expertise welcome) .
In 2016, for the first time, we will not receive a penny of public money from any council .
Nevertheless, we aim to continue our programme of improvements, trying new events
and improving our marketing.
We are a registered charity and last year we merged with the supporters group, Friends
of Jubilee Park. A small group of Trustees elected by you at our AGM, make the decisions
– each selecting an area of interest. We’re always looking for more to help spread the
load and add a fresh voice to our decision making. Just drop us an email if that appeals
and one of us will pop in to tell you more.
Please take a few moments to glance through this pack and see how you can
help us to continue to thrive in 2016. No matter how small you feel your
contribution, every little helps, as the saying goes!!
In the meantime, if you have any queries or issues contact me on 01526 353533

Very best wishes

achieve a lot. Like you, the Trustees are volunteers giving their time freely, but
there are only so many hours in the day!

an hour will make a big difference. Last year one enterprising supporter collected

Business supporters pack delivery. There are over 90 businesses to deliver packs to
and then collect their response forms before the season gets going. All help
welcome.
Collection box monitoring- we will have a lot of boxes around the Spa which will
need emptying, checking etc Businesses also need regular top ups of our leaflets to
hand to visitors

doing in and around the park. If you’re a good organiser and want something to get
your teeth into, this is for you!
Schools champion. This would suit a retired teacher- we need someone
who can talk to schools and help us keep track of their needs as well as explaining
to them what we can offer , from special days out in summer to swimming lessons
and other activities- in and out of season. We generate interest from schools
across the county, so if more than one of you volunteer, you can form a small team!
Organisation liaison- we need people to liaise with the many organisations in
Woodhall Spa and surrounding villages to make sure they have our latest leaflets
and help keep our records up to date so we can make sure each group or

reading this is a member of something- you could deliver our news to your group
and tell us of any changes in contacts. Just a few minutes each season to you but
priceless to us. Don’t assume someone else has already volunteered to do it!

MORE ABOUT US
The Park and swimming pool were built and gifted to the people of Woodhall Spa by Lady
Weigall in 1935.
OUR FACILITIES TODAY: A recently rebuilt (2012) heated open air swimming pool
(average temperature 29⁰C (86⁰F), new children’s heated paddling pool, continually
refurbished children’s play area, tennis courts and pavilion, croquet lawn, cricket pitch
and pavilion, a touring caravan and camping site and picturesque pleasure gardens
around an iconic bandstand. A small cafe offers light refreshments and there are free
public conveniences.
Jubilee Park had been run by East Lindsey District Council (ELDC) from 1974 until 2011
when, following overwhelming support from residents and hard work by the Friends of
Jubilee Park, the parish council took it on to prevent its closure. East Lindsey District
Council paid for a major refurbishment of the pool as part of the deal and pledged a
decreasing subsidy which ended last year.
WHO’S WHO AT JUBILEE PARK TODAY
Jubilee Park Woodhall Spa Ltd (JPWS) took over the running of the park and its swimming
pool from the Parish Council at the start of the 2014 season. Its charitable status was
confirmed later in the year. Anyone can join the management company – membership is
free and members vote in the Trustees and help set policy. Application forms can be
downloaded from the Jubilee Park website www.jubileeparkwoodhallspa.co.uk,
collected from the park office at the Swimming Pool or picked up at the library.
Trustees are- Chairman Emma Brealey, Tim Peacock, Julie Pole, Keith Scarborough, Justin
Scarborough, Craig Leyland, Simon Sargeant, Amarylis Midgley and Kim Barr. Their work
is divided into four groups: 10 Year Plan , Day to Day Operations, Finance and Personnel
and Customer and Business Relations, supported by the membership.
We have two full time members of staff, Park Manager Joe Stanhope, and Park
Technician Ian Wright, with many other part-time seasonal posts.
