orn in 1977 in Berlin, Nastja Holtfreter raised up in an artist familie. Her mother is a childrenbook illustrator and cartoonist
and her father a famous graphic artist of collages and posters. She could hold her first pencils and scissors with one year and
created since then thousands of illustrations, books and other creative stuff.
In 1998 she studied graphic designs in Berlin. After finishing her education she started her carrier in a small Berlin media
agency and created websites, screendesigns and animated cartoons for children´s television. She also illustrated a lot of
postcards, book covers, books, calendars and many more.
Since 2007 she´s creating some free works and showed them in galleries.
At the moment, she´s writing and illustrating her own present and children books.
Nastja is happily married and has a wonderful one year old daughter.

I am an illustrator and in my art I illustrates myself, my thoughts, my passions (I love to paint living chocolates),
my fantasies, my crazyness. A lot of people told me, they think I seem to life in my own world and my art is a
place where I can show this world to everybody else.

Born in the multi-national continent Europe, how did the culture elements of your origin country influence your creation? Also, what do you appreciate or feel proud of
your own country?
In the European history are so many great artists like Da Vinci, Rembrand, Dali, and german artists like Max Libermann and Adolf Menzel. I always am very impressed
of the art that they created.
But there are so many things that infuence my creation, artist from all over the world, vacations, Pop surrealistim, art shows, magazines and many more.
The people say that the germans are very exactly and perfectionistic. Perhaps you can say that in my art and illustrations I am very german, because I need it to be
perfect and I can be very fussy.
Germany is a very beautiful country. It has wonderful landscapes. But I would not say that I´m proud to be a geman. But I´m proud to be a berliner. Berlin is one of the
most inspiring, multi cultural citys of Europe. Here live lots of artists and here are so many galleries. Berlin is just great and not so expensive like the other fantastic
citys in Europe (Paris, Rome, London, Barcelona…).
