How to measure BBT’s • A basal thermometer (calibrated to detect lower temps) is best but a digital one usually works fine. • Do not change thermometer brands mid-cycle. • Upon waking before going to the bathroom or any excessive talking while still in bed place thermometer under tongue. Once it beeps record temperature on chart. • It is recommended to take the temperature at the same time. Can be tricky for women on night shifts or insomnia. • Factors that affect accuracy: mouth breathing, snoring, alcohol consumption, traveling through various time zones, anti-inflammatory, or sleep aid drugs. • Mark days of intercourse/moodiness/menses/other events. ©Dagmar Ehling, www.orientalhealthsolutions.com 4 1/15/2010 4.
