Swan swam over the sea. Swim, swan, swim! Swan swam back

Grade 1 LEARNING AT HOME GRID
Tasks to be completed over the two weeks beginning Monday 24th October DUE: Friday 4th November
***The tasks in bold print are the ESSENTIALS for the fortnight. CHOICES are strongly encouraged and a parent should sign off all tasks.
Reading
Read your reader every night with
someone in your family. After reading,
have a discussion about the characters
and talk about how the character might
have changed from the beginning to the
end of the story.
Spelling
Continue to practise the spelling words
list you have been given by having a
spelling bee with your family. Ask
someone to choose a word for you, and
spell out the word. You might like to
write the word or say it out loud.

Religious Education
In Religion, we are discussing the
difference between needs and wants.
Talk to your family about what ‘Needs’
and ‘Wants’ are and discuss how they are
different. Write a list of things that you
need and a list of things that you want.
Maths
Writing
In Maths, we are learning about 3D objects.
Look for different objects in your home
that you can name.
For example: a cereal box is in the shape of
a rectangular prism.
You might like to research the names of
different 3D objects first to refresh your
memory!
Draw at least 3 of these objects in your
books and label it with it’s name.
Keep a journal over the long weekend
where you can record some of the things
you do with your family, special events or
even interesting things you saw!

We are learning about alliteration in a
poem. Challenge your family members to
see who can read the tongue twister the
fastest.
Inquiry
In Inquiry, we are learning about the different
responsibilities we have at school and home.
Share your goal with your family to how you
can be more responsible at home. Discuss
what you can do to achieve your goal.
“Swan swam over the sea.
Swim, swan, swim!
Swan swam back again.
Well swum swan!”
When writing a journal, it is important
that you write the day, date and month.
Melbourne Cup
As next weekend will be the Melbourne
Cup long weekend, take some time to
explore the following link (scan the QR
code) and find out some interesting
information about the Melbourne Cup.
Record 3 interesting facts you learned or
know about the Melbourne Cup.
