There are many words in the English language that sound the same, but have
different meanings or spellings. It is important to get these correct in your
writing. Here are a few of those common mistakes.
Could’ve, Should’ve and Would’ve – The apostrophe replaces the missing letters ‘h’ and ‘a’. The
words read could have, should have and would have. You should never write could of, should of or
would of.
Quite and Quiet – Quiet means without noise. Quite means rather or completely. Sound the words
out phonetically to help you recognise the difference.
A lot - Always two words, never one! There is a space between.

Lose and Loose – Lose means the opposite of win or unable to find. Loose means not tight.
