All smiles from three children who have joined Reception this year. We are so proud of all our
Reception children (and grateful to their parents) for such a calm and productive start.
Dates for your Diary
Dear Parents/Carers,
I hope that this Newsle er finds you well and that you
enjoyed a wonderful summer with your children.
It is such a pleasure and a privilege to come back to the
School to find both staff and children rested, but raring
to go.
We came back to a refreshed building, with a brand new
classroom for Stork class, a fourth Treetops classroom
finally located inside the Base and a new
mee ng room and an office, where the old
Albatross class had been last year.
On top of that, we now have modern and
sparkling visitors’ toilet, a Quiet Area - joining
the two playgrounds - that has been made
both level and safe and a redecorated Hall.
We are also fortunate to be joined by nine new
members of staff, although several of them are not new
to the West Wimbledon family by any means! We
welcome the following teachers:





Hayley Butcher;
Anna Cookson;
Deborah Drew;
Harriet Laine-Euden;
Irene Sergiou;
Emily Thompson-Geering.
and the following teaching assistants:

As well as work on the building, we have also put in a lot
of work to both improve and speed up our
communica ons with families. The School’s website has
been refreshed and now has a dedicated News area. We
will con nue to ensure that we have every available email address on our system, so that we can increasingly
rely upon ParentMail, rather than use reams of paper, to
keep you informed.
Perhaps most exci ngly, the School now
has a Twi er account. Because of both its
ease and speed of use, I should like to
make increasing - but sparing - use of
Twi er to provide you with brief
announcements or short pieces of
informa on, rather than write le ers
home. Therefore, please may I encourage
you to follow the School’s Twi er feed
@westwimbledonpr, if you have not done so already.

Our staff:
2015 - 16
For a third year in a row, West Wimbledon Primary
School has achieved a runner up entry in the 2015
Wimbledon Young Writers’ Compe on.
This entry was chosen from over 200 entries from 30
schools across the Borough. The top entries were
chosen for their excep onal originality and their
ability to engage the reader.
The prince swung the scissors to the ground,
As the pair whizzed into a portal,
Never would Rapunzel’s hair star on TV,
She was back to being a mortal.
Be careful what you wish for,
Is the message of this tale I share.
It’s important to be who you are,
So Rapunzel, look a er your hair!!
Aleksandra Giovinazzo
Aleksandra Giovinazzo, who was in Stork Class in last
year’s Year 6, submi ed this wonderful piece:
We are confident that this will be a rewarding,
educa onal and exci ng experience for all of Year
5 children and the Key Stage 2 Treetop children.
Further details and informa on about the Centre
can be found at www.kingswood.co.uk
RAPUNZEL… Because she’s worth it!
A prince shouted out,
“Rapunzel, please don’t be sad,
With your frizz-free hair,
You could be in a shampoo ad.”
As ever, the School is aiming for 100% a endance.
Please do come along to find out more.
Rapunzel replied,
With a cheeky smile and wit,
“I wish I could be in an ad…
As I’m really worth it.”
Suddenly, there was an explosion,
A loud, big blue boom,
Rapunzel’s tower disappeared into mist,
As she was transported to a dressing room.
Rapunzel’s confusion cleared,
As she looked upon a stage.
“I’m going to be on a TV ad…
Be er than being locked up in a cage!”
“What do I need to do?”, asked Rapunzel,
To which a Director said,
“First we need to dye your hair,
Black, blue and red…”
The Director quickly added,
“But we think your hair’s too long”,
When Rapunzel spied his scissors,
She burst into song…
“Help, I need somebody,
Not just any body,
I need a heroic prince,
Not a man who is shoddy!”
In a flash, her prince appeared,
With a silver shield by his side,
“I have come to save you, Rapunzel,”
“Now, come with me!” he cried.
There is an important mee ng on Tuesday, 29th
September at 15.30 for all Year 5 and Key Stage 2
Treetops parents/carers. At the mee ng, there will
