All Rudolf has ever wanted to do is to pull Santa’s sleigh. But only the best reindeer get to do that and the best reindeer don’t have red noses. When you’re the only reindeer with a bright red nose it’s difficult to fit in, but even Rudolf has to go to school – Reindeer School. It’s not just magical sleigh rides and all you can eat carrots; it takes a lot of hard work to make the grade to pull Santa’s sleigh especially when you’re the ‘red nose reject’. But, with a li le help from The Ugly Duckling, and a gentle reminder of how special he is… who knows what can be achieved when Santa calls? und aro s unt o c s di ite n on e webs o a h form ck out t .co.uk n i e d r e r ch mo axca UK m For e y h t w.m ww 25th November ll 31st December ckets on sale now at the box office! IMPORTANT: FINANCIAL INFORMATION YOU NEED TO KNOW AS A KINSHIP FOSTER CARER Please be advised that carers are not eligible to Claim Child Benefit, Child Tax Credit or any other related benefits for a child placed in their care if approved as a Kinship Foster Carer or Caring for a child on a Temporary Fostering Basis. As a kinship foster carer whether fully approved or on a temporary basis, the department provides a weekly maintenance allowance that is chid ‘age related’ for the duration of the placement – this is specifically for the upkeep of the child placed. For up to date information on weekly amounts and allowance levels, please refer to the FN16 (Financial Policy) document which is reviewed annually and sent out to carers or speak to your Supervising Social Worker. Glue the paper around the back of the cup, so the ends reach around the front. We strongly advise any kinship foster carer who is in receipt of Child Benefit, Child Tax Credit or Related Benefits for any child placed in their care to stop claiming these benefits. It is regarded as fraud by the government to knowingly claim child benefit, child tax credits or related benefits in addition to fostering allowance. If you have any concerns/queries about this, please contact your Supervising Social Worker or the Kinship Care Team Manager on 0113 247 4654. S ck on the wiggle eyes and add a green foam nose. Decorate with star s ckers. Put your witch on display! NB: This does not apply to Special Guardians, Special Guardians can claim Child Benefit and Child Tax Credit if applicable. Personal Education Plan Review Summer in Leeds As many of you may be aware, the current Personal Educa on Plan (PEP) and process requires reviewing. As part of this development the Virtual School has consulted with foster carers and facilitated a session with schools, carers and social workers to gather opinions and feedback on how the process may be improved to be er reflect the needs of the young person and how the ‘corporate parent’ can work together to support educa onal progress and achievement. Some of the key areas of discussion have been around gathering foster carers and child’s views and how best to keep the document live. We have also considered how these mee ngs can be more produc ve by ensuring that essen al progress and a ainment informa on is captured and available prior to the PEP mee ng. The Kinship Care Team would like to say a special thank you to Maxine Kelly for all her efforts in organising this summers events for our carers and their children. We would welcome any other views, comments and sugges ons you may have. There are six Specialist Inclusive Learning Centres (SILCs) in Leeds. One in each of the five areas of the city and a further SILC for children with severe Behavioural, Emo onal and Social Difficul es (BESD SILC). A SILC school will provide teaching to children and young people who have severe and complex difficul es and are unable to access mainstream provision. If your child is func oning at a higher level and is academically able to access mainstream school but s ll requires specialist staff, then they may be able to a end a partnership school. A partnership school has teachers that are employed by the SILC but work in a mainstream school. A further op on is a resourced provision, these are based in mainstream schools and each one has its own specialist area, for example; speech, language communica on, moderate learning difficul es and severe learning difficul es. Children are fully included in the mainstream school, whilst receiving the specialist interven ons they need to address their individual needs.
