The closure will last for 15 days in total and we’ll be
working over a number of weekends and at night,
during Metro’s track access hours. We will do all
we can to keep the disruption to a minimum.
Benton
We’re replacing drainage and the Metro tracks
between Benton and Monkseaton. This work continues
on from the major line closure from earlier this
year and forms part of the £350m Metro all change
modernisation programme.

Bus service 900 will be a calling at or close to all
stations between Four Lane Ends and Monkseaton.
Trains will run between Four Lane Ends and Benton –
but we recommend that if you need to transfer between
Metro and the replacement bus (or the replacement
bus to Metro), you do so at Four Lane Ends, not Benton.
This is because the bus stop at Benton is a few minutes
walk from the Metro station, but at Four Lane Ends,
it’s right outside.
Metro tickets and passes will be accepted on the bus
and tickets can also be purchased from the bus driver.
The replacement buses will be accessible for
wheelchair users and pushchairs. However, as with
all buses, designated space will be limited.
Journey times will be longer than on Metro, so please
leave extra travel time. Replacement bus timetables
can be found at nexus.org.uk/metro
