ERASMUS Agreement with MALF - Wroclaw Report ERASMUS Agreement between the General Tadeusz Kosciuszko Military Academy of Land Forces in Wroclaw and the FH-Bachelor Programme Military Leadership of the Theresan Military Academy From 3rd to 5th April, 2012 an Austrian delegation consisting of Col (GS) Mag. Wiedner and Col Dr. Gell, MSc, MSD, MBA visited the Military Academy of the Land Forces in Wroclaw in Poland. The aim of the visit was to discuss possibilities for exchanges. The Polish and the Austrian Officers in front of the barrack’s memorial (Source: MALF Wroclaw) Main aim of discussion was the achievement of a whole semester studying period abroad within the frame of ERASMUS. Founded in 1987, ERASMUS is a European Union programme to facilitate, to encourage and to support exchanges of students and lecturers on university level. All European Union countries as well as Croatia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland and Turkey are members of this programme. -1- ERASMUS Agreement with MALF - Wroclaw Report The whole visit was organised by Capt Sylwestrzak, member of the International Office at MALF. LtCol Smolarek, Ph.D. introduced the Polish university programmes. One of them, the programme “Military and Defence” fits to the Austrian 4th semester, which is foreseen to be absolved abroad, perfectly. Col(GS) Mag. Wiedner and Col Dr. Gell presented the Austrian studies and the approach to internationalization. Col Klupa, Ph.D., (Vice-Dean of the Faculty of National Security) and Prof Luty, Ph.D. (being responsible for the ERASMUS programme) saw in comparing the Polish and the Austrian programmes a lot of possibilities for exchanges, for students as well as for lecturers. An ERASMUS-Agreement would facilitate all these efforts. Final discussions before signing the ERASMUS-Agreement (Source: MALF Wroclaw) Finally the ERASMUS-Agreement was signed by Col Pertek, Ph.D., acting Rector Commandant and Col(GS) Mag. Wiedner, Deputy Head of Institute for Basic Officer Education at the Theresan Military Academy. It was agreed that within the frame of ERASMUS some 20 students could be exchanged for a period of one semester, additionally four teachers and four staff members could be exchanged for a period up to four weeks each of them. MALF will also proof possibilities to send students to the Austrian Modules which are conducted within the frame of the European Initiative for the exchange of young officers inspired by Erasmus. ERASMUS-intensity programmes were discussed too, e.g. MALF applied for a summer-school in 2013 with topic Crisis Management -2- ERASMUS Agreement with MALF - Wroclaw Report Operations. Having the lead for the Common Module Crisis Management Operation within the European Union, Austria is very welcome to participate with lecturers and students. Col Pertek, Ph.D. and Col(GS) Mag.
