COLLEGE SPECIFIC SCHOLARSHIPS:
Savannah College of Art and Design, GA – Is offering the SCAD Distinguished
Scholars Award of $20,000 per year, to students who will be attending any SCAD
location – Atlanta and Savannah, Georgia, Hong Kong, or online via eLearning.
To be considered, students must be recommended by a teacher or counselor. The
SCAD Distinguished Scholars Award is renewable annually for students who
maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0. Nominees must complete all SCAD
admission requirements, including transcript and portfolio submissions, prior to
March 1. Students should apply online at http://www.scad.edu/admission/apply

GENERAL SCHOLARSHIPS:
Dunkin’ Donuts – Invites seniors to apply for one of the 75 college scholarships,
in the amount of $1,000 each. Applications and eligibility requirements are
available online at www.dunkindonuts.com/scholarship . The deadline is March
15, 2017 and all applicants will be notified of their status via email in May.

Phi Delta Kappa, Connecticut Chapter – Is awarding a $500 scholarship for
students planning to concentrate/major in Education and attending college in the
Fall of 2017. Applications are available in the Career Center and the deadline
to submit is March 31, 2017
The Connecticut PTA and Nutmeg Statewide PTA - Are pleased to announce
three (3) scholarship opportunities for all 2017 graduating seniors. As part of the
criteria in applying for these scholarships, each high school is allowed to send in
one application for each of the scholarships offered below:
*Connecticut PTA Scholarship Award: This award for $1,000 is in memory of
Christa McAuliffe, the first teacher in space who was tragically killed in the
Challenger. To be considered for this award, a student must be attending a fouryear college or university to pursue a career in teaching. The applicant must
submit a one- page essay answering the question “The reason I am entering the
teaching profession is…”
*Carol P. Duggan Nutmeg PTA Scholarship Award – This award for $1,500 is
presented to a high school student planning on attending a four-year college or
university to pursue a career in service to children other than teaching. The

applicant must submit a one- page essay beginning with the sentence “I expect to
be service children ten years after college graduation by…”
*Joseph G. Pearson Scholarship Award – This award for $1,000 is presented in
memory of a long-time supporter of Nutmeg PTA, Joseph G. Pearson and is
awarded to a high school student who has been identified with special needs and
will be attending post-secondary education or training. The applicant is required
to write a one-page essay with the first sentence beginning “I expect to overcome
challenges in the future by…”

The Middlesex County Blue Star Mothers-Connecticut Chapter 3 of the Blue
Star Mothers of America, Inc. is pleased to offer a $500.00 scholarship to be
awarded to a Connecticut high school senior in the spring of 2017. The
scholarship will be awarded to a senior who will be going on to a four year college
and who has a parent (or legal guardian) actively serving in the military or a parent
(or legal guardian) who is an honorably discharged Veteran. Military service
includes the Army, Marines, Air Force, Navy, Coast Guard, National Guard and
Reserves.
The Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc. is a Veteran Service Organization
chartered by the U.S. Congress and made up of mothers who have or have had
children serving our country in the military. The Middlesex County Blue Star
Mothers-CT Chapter 3 formed here in the state to honor and serve our troops, our
veterans, the mothers and families of our military and also to promote patriotism
here at home.
The scholarship applications are attached. The deadline for receiving completed
applications is April 1, 2017. Awards will be decided by May 1, 2017 and
notifications to the schools made immediately after. If you have any questions,

The Connecticut Society Daughters of the American Revolution – awards a
number of scholarships to deserving students in the top 25% of their class who
plan to enter college as a freshman the year after they graduate high school. The
scholarships are awarded on a basis of scholastic ability, character, leadership
potential and financial need. A local DAR Chapter must sponsor these students.
Greenwich students who wish to be considered may send a request letter to Sarah
M. Bleasdale-Coleman, Putnam Hill Chapter Scholarship Chair, 3153 High Ridge
Road, Stamford, CT 06903. The request must include a resume of activities and
accomplishments, class rank, and a statement of future plans, along with an email
address or a self-addressed, stamped return envelope, no later than March 31,
2017. Qualified students will receive an application from the State Chairman,
which must be completed and returned by May 15, 2017.

Summer Lifeguards – The Assistant Waterfront Director for Stamford parks and
recreation is looking to recruit staff to lifeguard this summer. They also offer the

Greenwich Scholarship Association
GSA is a non-profit organization that awards need-based
scholarships from local sponsor organizations and families,
to students who reside in Greenwich or attend Greenwich
High School who have demonstrated financial need. Awards
can range from $1,000 to multiple combined awards up to
$10,000 and are paid directly to the college or university to
pay tuition, room, board and mandatory fees.
DEMONSTRATED FINANCIAL NEED IS A PREREQUISITE FOR
RECEIPT OF ANY SCHOLARSHIP FROM GSA AND A FAFSA
APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED AND SUBMITTED IN
ORDER TO QUALIFY FOR GSA CONSIDERATION. The online
application will be available December 1, 2016 and the
deadline for submission is March 11, 2017 (no exceptions
will be made to this deadline).
