RULES FOR THE MARCHING PARADE COMPETITION WMC 2017 The Marching Parade Competition will take place in the Parkstad Limburg Stadion Kerkrade on: • • • • Sunday 9 July 2017 Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 July 2017 Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 July 2017 Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 July 2017 Article 1: Participation and divisions Participation is in two divisions: • • World Championship Divisions (the highest division) 1st Division WMC Kerkrade decides, based on previous results and/or video material, whether or not a band may participate and in which division. World Championship Division: this division is meant for experienced bands who in their native land compete on the highest level Marching. 1st Division: this division is meant for all other bands. Article 2: Music Bands may perform compositions of their own choice, suitable for the division in which that band competes. The titles of all music used in competition as well as one score per composition need to be submitted to WMC Kerkrade no later than 1 April 2017. Article 3: Performance area A circuit with a street width of 9.19 meters (10 yards) will be marked on the field. Article 4: The performance Upon a signal from the organization the band enters the stadium (either with or without music) and immediately takes the starting position (A). As soon as the band is ready to start the performance, the drum major or band leader must clearly indicate this to the announcer. The announcer will then give permission to start the performance. Performance: The performance is to consist of a mandatory and a free part. 1. Mandatory part: The following marching movements need to be performed: • Left or right manoeuvre • Counter march. The performance needs to move in a continuous forward direction until B or C (without stopping). 2. Free part: After the performance mandatory part, the band is free in its choice of route, direction, formations, steps and tempo, providing these are within the street circuit. At the end of the performance the band should have reached a point between the marks B and C where the band comes to a halt and gives a clear visible sign that the performance has come to an end. After the performance the band will march off by the quickest route Article 5: Time limits There are two time limits: • Overall time (entry, performance and exit) – maximum 20 minutes. • Performance time (the time in which the band is judged) – minimum 9 minutes, maximum 13 minutes. Article 6: The jury The jury consists of 6 adjudicators: • 2 adjudicators on music • 2 adjudicators on visual • 2 adjudicators on effect. Each caption will be judged by 1 adjudicator in the performance area and 1 in the box. This score determines the place in the final ranking: 1. Minimum 90 points: Gold with distinction 2. Minimum 80 points: Gold 3. Minimum 70 points: Silver 4. Minimum 60 points: Bronze 5. < 60 points: Certificate of participation. Title The band, which in World Championship Division reaches the highest score will receive the title “WMC Champion Marching Parade Competition World Championship Division” with the appropriate banner, trophy and cash prize. The band, which in 1st Division reaches the highest score will receive the title “WMC-winner Marching Parade Competition 1st Division”, with the appropriate banner and trophy. Kerkrade, March 2016
