From the Pastor
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
How the months fly by!! It seems like only a
short while ago we were welcoming the New Year of
2016 and already we are at the end of October!! I
must be getting old!!
On Monday evening, October 31st there will
be a Spanish Mass to celebrate the All Hallow’s Eve
(All Saints Day). And then on November 1st, the
Feast of All Saints there will be a school Mass at
8:30 a.m. followed by a sung Latin Mass at 11:00
a.m., and then a 5:30 p.m. English Mass and finally
another Spanish Mass at 7:00 p.m. I hope that you
will be able to attend one of these Masses as
November 1st, the Feast of All Saints, is a Holy Day
of Obligation. You will be sinning gravely if
through your own fault you fail to attend Holy Mass
that day. You will thus not be able to go to Holy
Communion until you have repented and received
absolution in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
November, of course if the month of the Holy
souls. It is a month dedicated in a special way to
prayer for the faithful departed. Please attend Mass
even daily if possible to pray for the dead. On
Wednesday of this week the Church celebrates the
Feast of All Souls. Even though this is not a Holy
Day of Obligation everyone who is able should try to
attend Mass that day. We have a 8:30 a.m. Mass in
English, a 5:30 p.m. Mass in Latin, and a 7:00 p.m.
Mass in Spanish. An indulgence may be obtained by
visiting a cemetery and praying for the faithful
departed. Many countries throughout the world have
developed special celebrations for Feast of All Souls.
In Mexico, for example it is customary in some
places to visit the graves of loved ones and have a
picnic there on the spot or to build a special altar in
the home where the departed ones favorite food and
drinks can be placed as a remembrance of them. The
most important thing, though that we can do for the
souls in purgatory is to offer the Holy Sacrifice of
the Mass as well as other prayers and sacrifices.
This coming Friday, November 4th is the
First Friday of the month and so our Masses will be
at 8:30 a.m. in English, 5:30 p.m. in Latin, and 7:00
p.m. in Spanish. Fridays throughout the year are
October 30, 2016
obliged to do some kind of penance on Fridays. The American
Bishops suggested that we each continue to give up meat just
as we do in Lent and to do so to end abortion. I have
continued to do that because I find it easier to remember to do
penance every Friday when the penance remains the same
throughout the year. If you do not give up meat you have to
come up with a different kind of penance such as making the
stations of the cross, praying an extra rosary, visiting a nursing
home or doing some other kind of kind deed for someone.
Saturday, November 5th is the First Saturday of the
month and so our Masses will be at 8:30 a.m. in English
followed by the Padre Pio Prayer group to which all are
invited. At noon there will be Mass in Latin. Then, the Vigil
Mass for Sunday will be at 6:00 p.m. On Sunday, November
6th the Forty Days for Life Campaign comes to an end. Thank
you to all who participated and prayed at the Garden of Hope
during the past forty days. May God receive your prayers to
change the hearts of all those involved in the grisly business of
killing unborn babies.
Daylight Savings Time ends this Saturday night into
Sunday. Please set your clocks accordingly.
Sincerely yours,
Father Timothy Davison

Awareness Week
NOVEMBER 6-11,
2016
As we ready ourselves to
celebrate and honor all known and
unknown holy men and women
seeking their intercession this
coming week. We recall all the holy
men and women whose commitment to
the faith in the Lord Jesus is one we
should aspire to. It is fitting, as we
prepare to celebrate National Vocation
Awareness Week, we remember those
gone before us and learn from their
example. Consider participating in our
special celebration next week.

Como han volado los meses! Parece
que hace un corto tiempo estábamos
bienviviendo el año nuevo del 2016 y ya
estamos en el final de octubre!!! Me he de estar poniendo
viejo!!!
Ustedes no
He continuado
Sinceramente suyo,
Padre Timothy Davison
