HUMOR FOR
THE SOUL
A mother told her
mischievous son
one day,
“Every time you
are bad I get another gray hair.”
Her son responds
“Gee mom, you
must have been
really bad when
you were young.
Just look at
Grandma’s hair!”

We are pleased to welcome William Lamm,
M.D., as the new Medical Director for FNRC. Dr.
Lamm will assume his new role on August 4. We
also want to recognize Dr. Wonsock Shin, who has
done a wonderful job as our Medical Director for
the past 14 years. We thank him for his leadership
and guidance and for his dedication to our residents.
Dr. Lamm is part of the Skilled Nursing Associates Program
(SNAP), which also includes three experienced nurse practitioners
- Kim Bittner, Mary Ann Dameron, and Patricia Jones. One of the
SNAP providers will be on site on a daily basis to check on our
residents and can assist with any changes in a resident’s condition.
Dr. Shin, along with Dr. Sidhu and Dr. Naeem, will continue to
be available to provide care for residents who have them as their
medical provider.
If you have any questions regarding these changes, please feel
free to contact me or Terri Rodeheaver, Director of Operations.

Save the date for FNRC’s LUAU
on Wednesday, August 27, at
noon. David Cruz, Dining Services Director, is creating a lunch
menu for the richest Hawaiian
experience for our residents and
their families. Residents will
learn how to do the Hawaiian Hula chair dance and enjoy
refreshments from the Tiki Bar.
Right: Junior volunteer Tiffanie Hare is constructing a paper Mache
pig for the luau to be used as a centerpiece.

The word sandwich refers to John Montagu, the
fourth Earl of Sandwich in 1762. He was always
in a hurry and never stopped for a full meal. One
day, he requested a piece of meat between two
slices of bread to eat on the run. Others saw how
practical this new way of eating was, and thus the
sandwich was born. Sandwiches are called by
different names; gyros, sub, hero, Po’boy, Dagwood, hoagie,
panini’s, sliders, melts and wraps. We will be celebrating Sandwich Month during our Sandwich Social on Friday, August 15, at
2:30 p.m. Residents will have the opportunity to sample 5 different gourmet sandwiches, including the most popular peanut butter and jelly sandwich!
On August 9, 1974,

“If the first week in
