LEARNING CULTURES
IN REGIONAL AUSTRALIA
There is no better source of growth than
investing in ourselves.
BRIDGING
THE
EDUCATION
DIVIDE
The skills and capabilities within people – their Human Capital– is critical
for securing the economic prosperity of a region.
The key is stimulating regional education, and focusing on lifelong learning
to bridge the education divide.
To do this, it is vital that communities, with the assistance of government
services and local leaders, create a strong learning environment. Our goal
must be to inspire regional people of all ages to continually be building on
their skills and capabilities.

Tutor in the Cloud: Tutor in the Cloud is an online
tutoring company providing students with access to high
quality tutors no matter where they live. They provide a
product with low bandwidth options to ensure all regional
students can make use of their services. With a growing
demand for online educational resources, initiatives like
Tutor in the Cloud will become more important for improving
education outcomes in regional areas.

How your region can improve
If your region scores low in numeracy and literacy measures, creating more opportunities for kids
to learn outside the classroom can help. While improving pathways for high school students into
the workplace can improve Learning or Earning measures. See our Human Capital Talking
Point for more examples on what communities are doing to build a strong learning culture
across their region.
