Program Overview
F a c u lt y - l e d
Students will be immersed in vibrant Cuban culture as we explore what it means to be a global citizen. In 1961, diplomatic
relations between the U.S. and Cuba ceased, and few Americans have visited Cuba in the 55 years since. This programs enables
UNCW students to explore Cuban life and culture, while gaining insight into Cuban perspectives on education, health care,
economics, politics, art, music, dance, food and more.
Academics
Students must enroll in HON 121-304 (CRN 7684, 1 credit).
We will meet monthly beginning in January, in order to provide background and context for our upcoming visit to Cuba. We will
then travel together on a week-long trip to explore Cuba firsthand.

the cultural hub of Matanzas, the Valle de Yumuri, and the white sand and blue waters of the of Playas del Este.
