 Saskatchewan Institute of Health Leadership Bursary Purpose The underlying purpose of the Provincial Health's sponsorship of the Saskatchewan Institute Health Leadership program is to be responsive to the needs of the Regional Health Authorities and the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency by providing support for health care industry front line managers/supervisors to enhance their leadership skills. Secondary objectives that are partly met by the sponsorship program include: ‐ Leadership Training support for health providers in Saskatchewan; ‐ Developing leadership skills in front line managers/supervisors/members of the self regulating health professions; ‐ Expanding continuing education and development; ‐ Improving job satisfaction; ‐ Supporting province‐wide health human resources planning, succession ‐ planning; and ‐ The retention of front line supervisors/managers in health organizations. Preference will be given to the following candidates working in the public health system in Saskatchewan: ‐ Front line supervisor ‐ Director ‐ Manager ‐ Executive Director ‐ Board member ‐ Member in good standing of their self regulatory health professional organization Eligibility Candidates must be Saskatchewan residents, be either a health care employee of one of the 12 Regional Health Authorities, the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency, the Ministry of Health, a board member of a RHA/SCA, a staff member or board member of one of the regulated health professional organizations, a member in good standing with their self regulated health professional organizations. Must submit an application by the application deadline of October 15, 2011. Applicants are selected through a competitive process. Decisions are based upon selection criteria that may include: ‐ years of service with the same health employer ‐ geographic/sector work ‐ aboriginal status ‐ letter of support from employer to attend the program ‐ and responses to the following three questions: 1. What are you hoping to achieve as a result of this program?
