WA 98387, or can be turned into
any Bethel School Office.
Bethel District has had over seventy students—transition
from the ELL program. The schools that had students participating were Camas Prairie Elementary, Chester H. Thompson
Elementary, Evergreen Elementary, Frederickson Elementary,
Nelson Elementary, Rocky Ridge Elementary, Bethel Jr. High,
Spanaway Jr., and Spanaway Lake High School. In order for a
student to transition from the ELL program, a student must
show that he/she has MASTERED the English language. He/she
will read and write at grade-level. He/she will use grammatically correct English with native-like proficiency. He/she must
be able to comprehend the English language.

There will be no make-ups. Students may only take exams on
assigned days and must be on time.
End-of-Course Assessments: Math
The math HSPE has been replaced with an end-of-course assessment. More information regarding testing time and schedules
will be announced after the first of the year.
We recommend you mark your calendar to prevent any scheduling conflicts. Please remember every student must pass the reading and writing portions of the HSPE in order to earn a high
school diploma.

If your student is out more than three
days you should request your student’s
homework through the office. Please provide 24-hours notice in order for the teachers and staff enough time to complete your
request. If you know of a pre-planned absence have your student request his/her
assignments in advance.

The ELL program is also known as ESL. The program is designed to improve
each student’s ability to speak, write, listen, and read English. The district
currently has three elementary schools (Evergreen, Frederickson, and Rocky
Ridge) a Junior high (Spanaway Jr. High) and a high school (Spanaway
Lake High School) that provide ELL services.

Family access helps you check your student’s progress, attendance, and tardiness. All you
need to do is go to the main office of your child’s Jr. High or High School with your identification and request your login and individual password.
