North
Freshman
Staff members at North were treated to a
"Welcome Spring" celebration on the first official
day of Spring! The principals provided the first
"picnic lunch" of the year including hot dogs and
other treats! Come on warm weather...we can't
wait until you arrive!
At the Freshman School, we kicked off our
annual Anti-Bullying week from 3/23-3/27.
Each day consisted of an Anti Bullying
Activity. Monday the students started the
Warm Fuzzy activity where they wrote nice
and encouraging notes to each other on PostIt -Notes and stuck them around the school.
There were also Anti-Bullying skits,
scenarios, and videos shown throughout the
week. On Thursday, students from the
Freshman School went to the High School
and participated in the Youth Summit where
they discussed bullying, drug/alcohol use, and
being a leader with members of the Coalition.
It was a very successful and enlightening
week.
Our
spring
Book
Fair was
called
"Under
the Sea"!
Students
and their
families
had the
opportunity to shop all week. Happy Reading!
West
Fourth grade students performed "Pirates!" the
musical for their classmates and packed the house
on Wednesday evening to perform it for our
parents and community. Thanks to Mrs.Massie for
a job
well
done!
Check out Ms. Jackson's students celebrating
PJ Day at West! Our students earned this
reward for being so generous during the
Jammies in January event! Don't be fooled
by their sleeping faces... they are full of
energy and ready to learn!

East
Mrs. Schoelwer's and Mrs. Gati's math class work on area and perimeter in their pajamas! Students
explored the various shapes throughout the lobby of East to measure the area and perimeter of each shape.
They had coincidentally earned Pajama Day on the same day!
The 4th Grade Chorus warms up for their Spring
Performance! What a great night! They did a fabulous job
with a standing ovation to end the night. A huge thanks to
Mrs. Stover and Mrs. Phillips for all their great work this
school year!
Kristen Otte, children's author of the
Adventures of Zelda books, visited
our third grade on Friday. She is
spending one day with each of our
second, third, and fourth graders. The students have
enjoyed spending personal time in their classroom and
getting the most out of the advise she has to share. This
has been a great experience for both students and
teachers!
East planned fun spirit days for Right to Read week. The theme was
based around dogs. This picture shows "wild dog day" with
Susan Ventling posing with some of her 4th grade students.
East 2nd graders held a flea market as the culminating activity
for their economics unit in social studies. Each class made a
product and sold it to other second graders. All profits went to
the Pasta for Pennies fundraiser currently being held at East.
Intermediate
FIS students were recognized for Straight A's for the
first semester at a special breakfast. Students got to
enjoy juice and donuts with their family as choir, band,
and orchestra classes performed. Students also got a
certificate that
recognized
their
hard
work!
Congratulations
to all of the
Straight A achievers!
FIS students have been
demonstrating the big three: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be a
Problem Solver. Students put tickets in a drawing as they earned them
throughout third quarter. Third quarter winners of either a Kindle Fire or
Best Buy gift card at FIS were: Alex Gallo, Bradley Arvin, Connor
Thompson, and Carly Damon. Thank you for being such positive role
models at FIS!
Students who demonstrated positive behavior throughout third quarter
were able to participate in the PRIDE Party. Students could visit a photo booth to take pictures, use
their electronics, get their face painted, or play a game on scooters called Hungry Hungry Hippos.
Thank you to all of the students who have displayed the big 3!
