Today we will start the construction in Minecraft of you slave sites. You will need access to a
computer with Minecraft loaded or an iPad with the paid version of the Minecraft app.
Here are some short videos with pointers if you are new to Minecraft, but hopefully someone in
your group has experience with it:

You will have 2 days in class (and for homework) to work on this. This segment of the project is
to be handed in one of two ways:
1. Via a screen recording with a voiceover giving a guided tour of your sites with the
information that is in your written component.
2. Via a meeting with the teacher set up during extra-help time after school.

In Minecraft, construct:
■ In same groups:
● Build two sites. Select two from the following list of “regions” then
select a specific type of location to recreate:
○ Africa (ex. a slave castle)
○ Middle Passage (ex. a slave ship)
○ New World (ex. a slave auction)
● In these sites you should demonstrate:
○ Clear knowledge of the Middle Passage and the departure
and arrival ports
○ Accurate and relative level of detail in sites
○ Reflection of substantial research evident in sites
○ You will not have complete knowledge or a full picture of
these places to base your on the documents provided.
Written description of 3D images
■ Write a brief write-up of each of the two sites
● Should describe five specific components of each site and why they
were included.
● Should include parenthetical citations from the documents
provided.
○ Ex. This is the sentence (document name)
