Scott joined the sales team at Cascade Orthopedic Supply in 1995 and was Account Manager for the Southeast territory until moving into Customer Service in
2010 when the company shifted from an inside sales
staff to regional field representatives. Before joining
Cascade Orthopedic Supply, Scott worked as a territory
sales manager for a Northern California bicycle manufacturer. Scott met his wife at Cascade, has a son in

COS Website Has Fortified Search Capabilities
As many Cascade customers know first-hand, we take
a lot of time to solicit and review customer feedback.
One thing we heard loud and clear was the desire for a
better search experience on our website, cascade-usa.
com. So, we invested in an integration with Google’s
custom website search tool, which is now active within
the Cascade site. This new solution offers many advantages over the old one, including:
• It allows the user to search by a number of values
including keyword, description, manufacturer part number, manufacturer name and L-code.
• It is more tolerant of typos and special characters.
For example, with the new search, if you omit a hyphen
in a product code it will still find the product.
• It only shows one result per product instead of per
item. For example, it will show a single result for a particular shoe model as opposed to a result for every size/
color combination for the model. So it’s easier to find
products.
• It shows thumbnail images for the products in the
search results, so it’s easier to find products.
• It provides us with better reporting, so we can see
when the site fails to provide good search results and
allows us to make continual improvements over time.

Study Reveals Best Treatment of Heel Pain
A two-year study done by the American Orthopaedic
Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) found that the combination of off-the-shelf shoe inserts and targeted
stretching exercises provides the most significant relief
from heel pain. During the two-year study which involved 15 orthopaedic foot and ankle centers across the
United States, researchers looked at the effectiveness of
stretching exercises and orthotic devices such as Tuli’s®
Heel Cups in the treatment of heel pain to determine
the level of effectiveness. Results showed that 88% of
those who used the Tuli’s Heel Cups and did tendon and
plantar fascia stretching exercises improved.
“The study proves what our customers have been
telling us for years,” says Craig DiGiovanni of MediDyne Healthcare Products. “While our Tuli’s Heel Cups
are proven to provide immediate pain relief it is clear
that sufferers using the ProStretch® flexibility enhancement tool in combination with Tuli’s not only experienced immediate pain relief but more importantly, they
were able to cure their heel pain over time. The Pro

Advanced Lower Extremity Design Seminar
With the increasing number of prosthetic foot designs
and microprocessor knees promising an ever widening
spectrum of functions, the prosthetist is faced with new
patient recommendation decisions that greatly affect
clinical outcomes. Fillauer’s Advanced Lower Extremity
Design Seminar will examine the development of current composite dynamic foot and microprocessor knee
systems with respect to biomechanics, physiologic function, and functional design classification. The physiologic functions of shock absorption, weight bearing
stability, progression, and stance phase stability will be
discussed in relation to optimal patient performance and
adjustment.
The evolution of foot and knee design will also be
discussed in relation to the present designs of the Element, IBEX, Wave, and REL-K designers. Attendees will
participate in hands-on demonstrations and get a detailed view of how these designs compare to other products available to their patients. Participants should walk
away with a more comprehensive understanding of how
prosthetic feet and knees are designed and how their
performance may be maximized.
