STANZA NCEA EXAMINATIONS Assessment Schedule 90125 Listen to and understand simple spoken Spanish in familiar contexts Notes for assessors: In keeping with the new format for NCEA examinations for Level One from 2009 please take note of the following explanations: Achievement column contains achievement level responses only. Merit column contains the achievement level responses and underlined merit level responses The Excellence column contains the achievement level responses, underlined merit level responses and excellence responses in bold. In order to arrive at a final grade, assessors are to first make a judgement for each question at N, A, M, or E level using the shaded Judgement row. Then make a judgement for the standard as a whole using the O verall Judging Statement at the end of the schedule. Both the shaded Judgement row following each question and the O verall Judging Statement are provided as a guide. These may be altered, along with the individual dot points, by the assessors to ensure that learners are awarded the appropriate grade, as indicated by the level of their responses when measured against the requirements of the standard. Higher level judgements are to be based at all times on qualitative grounds that reflect the learner’s recognition of detail, higher level structures, and ability to infer meaning. Typically, Achievement level responses will give relevant information; Merit level responses will contain more specific details; Excellence level responses will show in depth understanding/the ability to infer meaning. Thus, the learner’s ability to extract meaning and interpret information from the text(s) will determine the grade awarded. 2009 STANZA NCEA EXAMINATIONS 2009 Assessment Schedule 90128 Listen to and understand simple spoken Spanish in familiar contexts Question Achievement Merit Excellence One (a) boy Chumpe • • • • • (b) (c) boy Lives in a town called Chumpe In the Andes • • • He gets up early Gets dressed Helps father • • • • He gets up early, at 5 in the morning Gets dressed quickly Helps father • • Cold He puts on a poncho • always cold in the mountains he puts on a poncho before leaving the house • • • • • • • • • • • (d) mother gives milk breakfast together • • • • • • Judgement 6 dot points mother gives milk breakfast together of milk and bread sister brings water from the river younger children help mother • • • • 8 dot points, 4underlined boy Lives in a town called Chumpe At 3000m height in the Andes 4th child/son He gets up very early, at 5 in the morning Gets dressed very quickly Helps father with cow and sheep always cold in the mountains in the mornings snows at times he puts on a poncho before leaving the house hands and feet are often really cold mother gives them milk from the cow breakfast together of hot milk and bread older sister brings water from the river younger children help mother on the farm 9 dot points, 4 underlined, 3 bolded Two (a) • • Secondary school is 3 hours walk away Primary school is one hour walk away • • • • Secondary school is 3 hours walk away Primary school is one hour walk away Stop going to school when 9 years old Due to lack of money • • • • • Secondary school is 3 hours walk away Primary school is one hour walk away Stop going to school when 9 years old Due to lack of money Luis’ uncle pays for his studies STANZA NCEA EXAMINATIONS (b) • • Judgement Open a school to help Open a school in his village to help 3 dot points, 2 underlined • • • popular in Latin America Love problems • • only women young people • • 2 dot points 2009 Open a school in his village • to help the people 6 dot points, 2 underlined, 1 bolded Three (a) • (b) • Judgement popular in Latin America • women 1 dot point most popular in Latin America • Usually stories with many love problems • only women used to watch them. • Today many young people watch them 3 dot points, 2 underlined, 1 bolded 3 dot points, 2 underlined Four • • • • • • students Jose is handsome and dark with black eyes Claudia is dark With short hair And green eyes • • • • • • Uni versity students Jose is handsome and dark with black eyes With an enormous smile Claudia is dark With short, straight hair And green eyes • • • • • • • • • Judgement 4 dot points 5 dot points, 2 underlined Uni versity students Jose is handsome and dark with black eyes With an enormous smile Claudia is also dark With short, straight hair And green eyes They go everywhere together Always have fun together 6 dot points, 2 underlined, 1 bolded Five (a) • • • • Claudia goes for a walk Jose meets another girl and they get married A mystery woman in black • • • • • • Wanted to get married Claudia goes for a walk with the dogs Didn’t return Jose looks for her He meets another girl and they get married A mysterious woman in black arrives after a few days • • • • • • • • Wanted to get married but didn’t Claudia went for a walk on the beach with the dogs Never returned Jose looks for her for years Sad and alone he meets another girl, Marta and they get married He doesn’t love her as much as Claudia A mysterious woman STANZA NCEA EXAMINATIONS 2009 arrived after a few days, dressed all in black • Judgement 2 dot points • 4dot points, 3 underlined • • 6 dot points, 3 underlined, 3bolded Achievement Merit Excellence Any 3 A or M or E 2XM Any 2 other A or M or E 2XE Any 2 other A or M or E
