showman Mark Milovats, will bring to the Byham Theater. Kentwood’s showing off its Holiday Lights program which will present
its 90-foot Christmas tree and a lot more! Stop by to see the Spirits of Giving from Around the World - a display of lifesize Santas and original paintings depicting holiday celebrations from around the world. You’ll be sure to have a lot of fun this

Elf
This movie is about Buddy the Elf, who had the trip of a lifetime, literally! On a magical Christmas night when buddy
was a baby, he accidently crawled into Santa’s toy bag. He grew up as an extremely large elf and he worked in Santa’s workshop. When Buddy became an adult, he realized that he did not belong in the North Pole, and even worse, he wasn’t an elf.
He wanted to know who he truly was, so Buddy went on an intriguing quest to find who his real father is. He then discovers
Walter Hobbs, who after a DNA test, turns out to be his father. This story is a hilarious classic that is sure to be a family
favorite and a great Christmas tradition!

The Season of Advent
By: Editors
Advent began on November
29th. It begins four Sundays before Christmas. Advent means
“coming” and it is the preparation
for the birth of Our Lord. It is
also the beginning of the liturgical
year. Advent is a time to be joyous for the Lord’s birth, but it is
also a time of penance. For Advent, there is a wreath with four
candles that you see on the altar
at church.

peace. During Advent, another tradition is a Jesse tree. The Jesse tree
represents the family of Jesse, King
David’s father. An ornament is put
on the tree each day of Advent.

The fall SBS sports are winding down to an end. The soccer, volleyball, and cross country teams have all
had very successful seasons. The varsity soccer team had a great and very entertaining season. They made it all
the way to the Diocesan championship, but came up short after over-time and two shoot outs. The annual tipoff
tournament took place in November and all of the school’s basketball teams played in the tournament. The JV
and Varsity cheerleading squads have both been practicing and are ready to cheer on and support all of the teams
this year.
Our Varsity Boys Basketball Team has been doing very well so far. Recently, we have won two tournaments in a row. Our players are pumped to play and win more tournaments in December. We would really appreciate if you come and support our team!
