A Gobbler thank you goes out to Dawn Jemelka for taking pictures of
her students in action! Here they are using the mirror method of
indirect measurement to calculate the height of the flagpole at the
Competition Gym.
No, these students are not just playing around on their phones and
iPads. They are teaching each other how to use Yearbook Shout, an app
for any phone or tablet that allows students and parents to upload and
share photos from their mobile devices with the CJHS Yearbook staff
for possible use in the yearbook! Thank you Mrs. Stewart for sharing
this photo!
Cuero Junior High band
students joined the Cuero high
school marching band in their
halftime performance for the
playoff game against Yoakum.
Students played in the stands,
on the field, and on the track.
Junior high students have
always helped the band with
the pit crew, but with the new
directors they are getting
experience in more areas and
learning what high school
band will really be like.
“Oh good grief!”
I’m not sure how many of you grew up watching Charlie Brown, but if you
did, then you are bound to remember all the different shows about him
and his pals….and of course, his dog Snoopy! (My all-time fav, remember?).
In the shows, he was often teased by his friends, but in the end, Good Ole Charlie
Brown really made sense in his thinking…Hmm, could there be a similarity here
between Crockett and Charlie? Ok, stop already…I didn’t mean how we might look
alike or how we both like yellow….I meant a similarity in our thinking!
Anyway, with December now in full swing and Christmas quickly approaching, I
thought about my favorite Charlie Brown show of all…..
A Charlie Brown Christmas.
If you remember the story, it centers on Charlie searching for the true meaning of
Christmas…only to be disappointed in how commercialized it has become. His
friends suggest ways to cheer him up, but it only makes things worse. And who can
forget about the withering tree……Poor Charlie Brown….that sure didn’t help!
But as you know in the end, Charlie is able to move past the commercialism of the
season and discover the true meaning of Christmas with help from his friends.
It all made sense…The Charlie Brown Way.
In the upcoming weeks, I encourage you to make sure, in this fast paced,
commercialized Christmas season that you take time to focus on your friends and
family and the true meaning of Christmas….just like Charlie Brown.
May I say this…?
I want to thank each and every one of you for
being so supportive of me since I have returned
to Cuero….You are my Friends….
You are an extension of my Family….
And I am Forever Grateful for that…
So instead of “Oh Good Grief…
Let Crockett say,
Oh Thank Goodness!”
(Hit it Schroeder with the piano song!)
Enjoy your week!
