The Macbeth Soliloquy Project
Due: ________________
Choose one of the following soliloquys from Macbeth to read & analyze, memorize, and
creatively present to the class. Be sure to review the following requirements and
grading rubric to ensure you understand the essentials of the project.
Requirements:
 Annotate soliloquy for literary elements, understanding, and historical notes.
You should print a copy of the soliloquy you have chosen and annotate on the page. We will have
talked about this in class, so feel free to use class discussion, notes, and other sources to
help in your understanding of the text. Annotations should be in your own words.
 Present a meaningful memorization/reading of the soliloquy to class. Memorize,
or mostly memorize your soliloquy and creatively present it to the class. You have creative
freedom here, so use your imagination and talents to create a presentation we will remember.
Think about Shakespeare’s intention and your interpretation of the soliloquy. You may record
your presentation or present “live” to the class.
 Comprehension of text. It should be clear that you understand Shakespeare’s intention
behind the text. Take into account the stage directions and make them your own. Do you not only
understand the words, but also the emotion? Put it all out there.
 Be prepared to go when the project is due. If you have costumes, props, class
participation, handouts, etc, have these things ready to go. We should not have to wait more
than 2 minutes for you to “prepare”. Be ready to go. Plan ahead!
