In the spirit of acquainting all of you with our property, I was able to dig up a little info on the building history. Mind you, my wife and I have only owned and lived in the building under 3 years, but there happens to
be a nice little history there...
According to the PD10 Document, this Spanish
Colonial Revival
Duplex was built around
1928, probably a date
provided by the County
Tax Assessor or another City Office that keeps
the records. My wife
Cherie had done a little
research at the library
and had found phone
records going back to
about 1923, so the true
date really leaves a few
question marks and is yet
to be determined. In
one of its more memorable
states, the house was
owned and run as the
"Victorian Tea
Company" during the mid
90's, where afternoon
Tea Party Classes were
held, along with other
events relating to National
Tea Week and Themed
Teas for every season. This
enterprise existed in
the lower unit, where previous owners Barb and
Jim remodeled the kitchen
in a charming manner, reflecting the classic tile work of the earlier eras. It is still in place today. We ourselves
have re-landscaped the backyard into a mini-resort for entertaining, complete with water features, jacuzzi
and BBQ Island. If it is a warm evening this Dec. 17th, perhaps we may even spend a little time out back. We
will certainly leave it open for all to explore and enjoy.
Hope to see you there!

2008/2009 WCHA Board
Greetings from your new WCHA Board. Three new members were elected at our November 19 meeting-Jim Danno, Kathleen Irvine,
and Amy Peters. Thanks to
the three they replaced—
Cheryl Perry, Ernie Villa, and
Sherron Leno. Erik Sochin,
Patty Lund, Jill Anne Black,
and I are the continuing
board members.
The Board met Tuesday
November 25th to divvy up
the Board responsibilities. I
am the new president and will
handle matters pertaining to
the City and community.
Patty is the new Secretary.
Jill Anne will continue as
Treasurer. Erik will oversee
matters pertaining to Quality
of Life issues and the website.
Amy will oversee matters pertaining to Preservation issues.
Kathleen will produce the
newsletter. And, Jim will be
heading the membership
drive and help wherever
needed.
New Board members mean
new ideas, so be forewarned
that some new things will be
tried in the newsletter and at
our monthly meetings. “Old dogs” can be motivated to try some “new tricks.” Your input will be appreciated
as we try new ways to move forward in the New Year.
Jana Shields, President
