Point and Macnuts

Destiny Motor Inn, next door to the Information centre. Once leaving the Bellwood channel pasing energy spit,

Rob & Robyn will welcome you aboard and will give you a full
history on the river.
After the cruise we will travel to Taylors Arm to visit the PUB
WITH NO BEER where you will enjoy lunch and of course there is BEER!!
"There's nothing so lonesome, morbid or drear, than to
stand
in the bar of a pub with no beer," crooned the late great
Slim
Dusty in 1958, giving birth to one of Australia's top 50
biggest selling singles of the past 60 years and an
Australian icon.
According to the legend, the pub with no beer in the
song
of the same name is the Cosmopolitan Hotel at Taylors
Arm,
near Macksville between Coffs Harbour and Kempsey
on the
NSW north coast, and it ran out of beer once when cut
off by
floods.
Of course, like all good legends the actual facts are a bit hazy, such as when this catastrophic event occurred,
but local country and western music star, Gordon Parsons, AKA the Yodelling Bushman, penned a ditty and his
mate Slim, a Kempsey boy, recorded it and the rest, as they say, is history. If not myth.
After lunch our Coach Captain will take you on a scenic tour of Scotts Head & Stuarts Point.
Back to the Destiny Motor Inn but not before calling into “Macnuts” along the way.

Day Trip 2 – Bellingen & Dorrigo, Waterfall Way, Dangar Falls & The Honey Place
A picturesque day with stunning views. Take your camera.
The Dorrigo Rainforest Centre and Skywalk has easy access to an amazing above-the-trees rainforest walk. The
boardwalk is 70m up and provides spectacular views. You can also meander along the rainforest floor to
waterfalls cascading over an escarpment. As Natalie Gruzlewski found, it's the place to learn secrets of the
ancient world, the rainforest and threatened species. It's home to more than 250 species of native plants, many
native birds — including lyrebirds, bowerbirds and pitas — and other wildlife. Dorrigo National Park was included
on the World Heritage list in 1986 and is part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia. It is a place of ancient
buttressed figs, giant tallow woods and Australian cedars of natural beauty and significant habitats.
The area was originally inhabited by the Gumbaynggir Aboriginal people, who travelled between the plateau and
the coast. In the 20th century it was settled extensively by dairy farms, and today Dorrigo is a service centre for
surrounding farmers and graziers.
Morning Tea will at the Rainforest area then onto Dangar Falls (pictured above). Then you will get to view one of
the largest collections of steam trains in the southern hemisphere. Lunch will be at the Heritage Hotel in Dorrigo,
then before heading off to Bellingen for a shop around this lovely village we will visit Griffith Mountain Top
Lookout for one of the best panoramic views in the area.
If there is another time our coach driver will stop in at the Honey Place before returning to the Destiny.
Day Trip 3 – Kempsey Museum, Crescent Head & South West Rocks (Trial Bay Gaol)
Today you will visit the Tourist Information Centre and Historical Museum in South Kempsey Park where you will
enjoy morning tea before setting off to Crescent Head & South West Rocks.
CRESCENT HEAD
Just 19kms south east of Kempsey and 440kms north of Sydney, you'll find the seaside village of Crescent Head.
Crescent Head offers magnificent water views, as the village fronts Killick Creek and the ocean, and is
surrounded by the stunning natural beauty of Hat Head National
Park.
Our coach captain will take you through the township for a tour,
then onto the Crescent Head Country Club.
Lunch will be at the Crescent Head Country club where you can
enjoy a drink or two.

SOUTH WEST ROCKS
A tour of South West Rocks and the town is next.
Step back in time at the Trial Bay Gaol, soaking up the history
and
the amazing coastal views that surround it.
The gaol opened in 1886, after 13 years of construction. It
must
have been a strange feeling building a prison that is in such a
beautiful setting.
The prison labourers were there to construct a breakwater to make Trial Bay a safe harbour between Sydney and
Brisbane. Unfortunately the scheme failed, however you’ll still be able to see the remains of the breakwater from
the guard tower lookout. During World War I the gaol became an internment camp for people of German descent
who were feared to be enemy sympathisers.
Today, this picturesque historic ruin stands as a testament to those who lived and died here, with a museum and
memorial for visitors to get a better idea of life in those days.
Horseshoe Bay is adjacent the South West Rocks village centre where you’ll find a very diverse range of
restaurants, take-aways, relaxed cafe’s and great pubs and clubs. There are excellent shopping facilities catering
to all your needs. Stretch your legs here and purchase an ice cream if you so desire.
After this long day you will then return to the Destiny to freshen up for dinner.
Day Trip 4 – Coffs Harbour Bongil Bongil National Park, Sealy Lookout, Solitary Island
Aquarium & Wine Tasting.
Morning Tea in the Bongil Bongil National Park which is a diverse and very accessible national park located
between Sawtell and Mylestom, about 15km south of Coffs Harbour.
The 4180ha park features unspoilt beaches, littoral and swamp rainforests, wetlands and mangroves, wet and
dry heath, coastal dunes and pristine estuaries.
There’s also an array of rich and diverse plant and animal communities, referred to in its Aboriginal name Bongil
Bongil, which means “a place where one stays a long time because of the abundance of food”.
Among the native animals you may encounter in the park are koalas, as the national park is home to one of the
state’s largest koala populations. Bongil Bongil also offers refuge to 165 species of birds, including a number of
threatened species. Then back on board to the Sealy Lookout which lies within Bruxner Park Flora Reserve.
The Forest Sky Pier at Sealy Lookout offers visitors an amazing 180-degree view over the Coffs Harbour
Coastline. The Forest Sky Pier extends 21 metres out from the Lookout and stands 15 metres above the forest
floor.
THEN ONTO THE SOLITARY ISLAND AQUARIUM
A window into the unique marine environment of the Solitary Islands awaits you at the Solitary Islands Aquarium.
Discover what makes the Solitary Islands Marine Park so special through our series of aquariums, guided tours
and visual displays.
Page 5
Dive in without getting wet and see animals that call the Solitary Islands home, including colourful clownfish
darting amongst the waving tentacles of sea anemone, crayfish and sea urchins slowly cruising over rocks and
ledges, the beautiful, but poisonous lionfish gracefully looking for its next meal, and brilliantly coloured angelfish,
tangs and butterfly fish gliding over iridescent coral.
After the aquarium we will take you to a wine outlet called, “The Occasional Parrot” where you will be able to
sample the wines and purchase if you like and the prices are very reasonable. Then back on board to the Hoey
Moey for lunch.
Home Day
Sadly, today is home day. Please bring your luggage to the reception area before breakfast as the Coach driver
will have them all loaded and ready to go. The coach driver will stop for morning tea and any comfort stops along
the way. The coach driver will also stop along the route back home for Lunch (at your own cost). I’m sure you will
enjoy our Destiny Tour
