Flags at Half-Staff for San Bernardino Victims
Flags flown at half-staff through Monday, December 7
As a mark of respect for the victims of gun violence that occurred on December 2,
in San Bernardino, all city flags are flying at half-staff through Monday, December
7, which also marks the anniversary of National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.
The flag of the United States shall be flown at half-staff at the White House and
all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all
naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and
throughout the United States.
Every year on National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, America honors those
brave individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of the United States.
On the morning of December 7, 1941, Japanese planes flew over Hawaii,
dropping bombs in an unprovoked act of war against the United States. The
attack claimed the lives of more than 2,400 Americans.
"On National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, we pay tribute to those we lost on
that day, but we also honor those who responded with courage in service of our
Nation during World War II," says South San Francisco Mayor Rich Garbarino.
Flags are to fly at half-staff until sunset Monday evening.
