DONNA PATCH Week of December 1-5 Topic: DBQ Essay; MesoAmerica and Exploration Monday 12/1 TLW: I can write a DBQ essay by using the rubric. *Most handouts are under chapter resources on lesson plans or given in class. Tuesday 12/2 Objective: Review DBQ information (Medieval Cities or Crusades) for writing essay. Activities: 1. Set 10: Journal 2; Write on a newsworthy event that happened over the Thanksgiving break. Summarize it and explain what we can learn from it. (3-5 sentences) 2. DBQ essay (see notes before break) Follow Up HW: Read the information on the Mayas, Incas, and Aztecs. Draw a Venn chart comparing them in 4 ways (3 compare and 1 contrast or vice versa) Objective: Analyze causes for European exploration. TLW: I can analyze the causes for European exploration. Activities: 1. Set 10: Journal 3: Prove this quote: “ The Aztec and Incas were advanced civilizations when the Spanish arrived.” 2. Map on European exploration. Follow Up/HW. Read handout on” Potosi and the World That Trade Created” for Friday. Answer questions. For next class read “Kingdom and Kongo” and “Affonso I Writes King of Portugal”. Objective: Discuss impact of European exploration. Wed/Thurs. TLW: I can explain the impact of the 12/3 Columbian 12/4 Exchange and exploration on the Americas and Europe. Friday 12/5 TLW: Same as Wed./Thurs. Activities: 1. Set 10: Journal 4. Copy the illustration on the screen and explain what you see. 2. Millennium: Zheng He 3. Discuss labor systems in the Americas.
