The nurse will extract the platelet rich part of the blood and apply it to your wound by mixing with a gelling agent to keep it in place in the wound cavity. The wound will then be dressed to protect the platelet gel. Title What is PRP? Platelet rich plasma, (PRP) is the plasma part of blood with concentrated platelets. The platelets are there to help the body repair itself. The concentrated platelets found in PRP contain growth factors that are vital to initiating and accelerating tissue repair and regeneration by stimulating the healing process.
