Thanks to their compact construction they can be optimally installed in any distribution system. The 3KA and 3KE switches can be used for all main, EMERGENCY STOP, maintenance, and changeover switch requirements. The 3KL and 3KM ranges with integrated fuses protect against the damaging effects of overloads and shortcircuits. They can be fitted with IEC or BS fuses, for protecting frequency converters or for fast installation on 3KM busbars. Above all, the line-side fuse always gives reliable protection from short circuits. Another advantage is that the 3K program is available complete as safety switch with high-quality 8HP insulated enclosure (IP 65) – which means even more possibilities for high-performance safety concepts. The 3KA and 3KE ranges of load-break switches – without fuses – can be used in distribution boards in residential and commercial buildings and in industrial switchboards. With 3 or 4 poles, they take care of reliable isolation and switching under load at rated current. Hence, they are ideal for all main, EMERGENCY STOP, maintenance, and changeover requirements. And they guarantee safe isolation in all low-voltage circuits. The 3KL and 3KM load-break switches – with fuses – also afford protection from the effects of overload and short-circuit, which makes them ideal as main and EMERGENCY STOP switches for switchboards, distribution boards and motor feeders. Equipped with Siemens SITOR semiconductor fuses, they are also capable of meeting the highest requirements, such as UPS systems, variable-speed drives or power-factor correction systems. The design of 3K means that every switch offers a double break on the contacts and thus on the isolating distance. When the switch is in the OFF position, the fuses are dead. For additional safety, each switch can be locked in the OFF position by means of a padlock at the shaft. In the case of 3KM switches – with fuses – an isolating plug connector makes installation a simple matter without the need for tools. This is an advantage in MCCs, for example, for making the contacts with vertical busbars. The same range of accessories for 3KA, 3KL and 3KM – with and without fuses – saves storage space and makes spares easier to find.
