Supplies for Triangle Ornament: - two contrasting fabrics

Supplies for Triangle Ornament:
- two contrasting fabrics
- button or charm
- thread/ribbon for hanging
- matching sewing thread
1. Cut two triangles with equal sides – a 9 inch triangle makes a nice
sized ornament.
2. With right sides together, sew the triangles together on all three
sides, leaving a small opening for turning.
3. Turn right side out and press, making sure corners are pointed.
Sew the opening closed.
4. With knotted thread, take a stitch through one point, then the
next, then the next, pulling up all the points until they meet in the
middle. Stitch through the layers several times to secure.
5. Center the three points and push the needle through to the back
of the fabric, catching all the fabric.
6. Flip the ornament over. It should now look like a hexagon.
7. Thread needle through center of one of the sides, pulling it into
the middle. Repeat on two remaining sides, pulling all to the
middle. Stitch several times to secure.
8. Thread needle through to the back, then back to the front to
stabilize.
9. Stitch a button or charm to the center to hide junction point.
10. Stitch a hanging loop in one corner.

Supplies for Square Ornament:
- two contrasting fabrics
- button or charm
- thread/ribbon for hanging
- matching sewing thread
1. Cut two circles from contrasting fabrics. An 8” circle makes a nice
sized ornament. You can use a plate or lid as a guide. Trace around
it on the wrong side of the lighter of the two fabrics. That will be
your stitching line.
2. With right sides together, sew the circles together, leaving a
small opening for turning.
3. Turn right side out and press, making sure to maintain a circle
shape. Sew the opening closed.
4. Fold the circle in half and pinch to on each side to mark the
centers. Fold the circle in half the other direction and pinch on each
side to mark the centers.
5. Take a stitch on one side, then a stitch on the opposite side. Pull
up stitches to make a half circle and take several stitches to secure.
6. Take a stitch on the unstitched side, and then on the opposite
side to bring all the center pinches together. Take several stitches
to secure.
7. Thread needle through to the back and then back to the front to
secure.
8. Turn over the four corners. You can press the corners down so
they’ll lay better.
9. Sew a button or charm to the center to hide the junction point.
10. Stitch a hanging thread through one corner.
