Inner Earth Model – by you
Due: ______________ - if you turn it in after this date, it will be considered LATE (25% discount
on your grade). You will present your project to the class on ____________________
Description: Your objective is to create a 3-Dimensional model of the earth that shows the
composition of the inner earth and the relative thickness of each layer. 3-D means it is not flat
like a piece of paper. Each layer should be labeled with its name and thickness (both actual and
how thick it is on your model).
Materials: NO STYROFOAM BALLS. You need to use at least three different materials to
represent the layers. Try to use what you already have around your home. Be creative!
What you turn in:
1. Pages 14-3 & 14-4 completed.
2. Your model with your name on it.
3. Grading: Use the tables below to make sure you included everything in your model. You
might want to have a friend or parent "grade" your project to see if you need to change
anything.

layer on your model is also the thickest layer of the planet earth).
