The contraction “al”
•
There are very few contractions (times when words combine
to form a new word) in Spanish, and you already know a

The word “a” becomes the contraction “al” when followed by
the word “el”

Example: I’m going to the game (el partido)

Yo voy aalel partido.
This does not happen when “a” is followed by “la, los, las”
or any other word.
