Special Edition: 2012, Sem. 3 - An Overview
This issue Triumvirate Today looks back at the most memorable events,
the greatest accomplishments, and the strongest people of the last trimester.
Curesse Seeks Maj/Min
NEIL DEFEATS STAVROK - NEW MAJOR!
This election has shown that
Mitar Curesse, previously a quiet
voice in the Executive Branch,
may be attempting to move up
Ü
and become more active. He put
himself in as a candidate for both
Major and Minor Executive,
despite his party-mate Stavrok
running as well, and though he
lost each significantly, it may be
a sign that Curesse is about to
become a very vocal and
involved Executive.
One week before the election, no person in the Triumvirate would have expected Stavrok to be
significantly challenged, let alone lose, an election for his third term as Major Executive.
However, Elliot Neil, a freshman Executive who has been in office only slightly over two
months, beat him and will take office as the fourth Major Executive on January 1st. Neil, a
fairly under spoken member of the branch surprised all with a stunning statement as to why she
was the best candidate and while her win was not as much a result of her personal appeal, but
more of the idea of “getting someone besides Stavrok”, she may bring something very new to
the office of Major Executive. Neil, who has been moderate enough to get some respect, and
who has been guided since she joined primarily by Ehtya and Ogamon, won with five votes
against Stavrok’s four, and Mitar Curesse’s one.

Administrative Election
With the Executive Branch
elections over, attention will go
towards who the Administrative
Branch will select as Speaker and
Deputy Speaker. Though there
should not be any surprise as
Andrew Mearl is expected to
remain Speaker and, by a deal
with the Executives over a tax
agreement, his brother, Jackson
Mearl, will likely become
Deputy Speaker, there is still a
chance that some on the far-right
of the branch (Schay and Ermier)
will attempt to take one of the
offices which might split the vote
giving Speakership to Jackson
Mearl.
As for the actual election, it demonstrated a fracturing of the Progressive Party, as Curesse
challenged the incumbent and as Becker even reached across the table to vote for Neil for
Major. With the loss of the Major Executive seat in the EB, the Progressive Party no longer
holds any of the five top seats in the Triumvirate.
The Minor Executive race was not as shocking, with Andrew Hester winning a victory over
Mitar Curesse (7 to 3). Neil will be sworn in by the Chief Justice in an inaugural ceremony on
January 1st and she and Hester will each become the fourth respective to hold their positions.
Committee Nomination Process to Begin
As the new trimester approaches, the government will
revolutionize itself once again, this time adopting
committees between the EB and AB so that members of
each who have similar skills and interests and specialize
and discuss issues. Of the seven committees that members
of each branch must be appointed to (Economics, Foreign
Affairs, Defense, Judiciary, Preservation and Culture,
Ethics, and a Special Committee on Membership) most
seats will be held by Executives. The top ranked
Executives have top choice and as incoming Minor
Andrew Hester will be the topped ranked Executive
eligible to join a committee (the Major Executive cannot
join a committee), he will likely chair the Economics
Committee. Other likely placement is Ehtya as chair of
Foreign Affairs and Ascencia as chair of Defense.
Ogamon’s Retirement
Arnold Ogamon has given a slight
extension to his retirement, stating
he will retire in the next trimester in
mid-January. He originally stated he
would be retiring by the end of 2013
but citing that he could not possibly
get everything he wanted to get done
by then he has extended the date.
Ogamon has asked he not be
considered for any committees as he
would leave only shortly after (or
before) they become active and has
also mentioned a gift to the
Triumvirate before his coming
departure.

Prediction For This Week: -∇9.25
Next week will include the collection of taxes from
businesses from the last trimester which means, by current
TDT estimates, 37 tri will be extracted from business hands.
That means the TTI would drop at least 9 tri which means
the TTI has yet to actually see positive growth since midNovember.
The economy has flat lined, which means we aren’t seeing
positive growth or negative growth. There are a couple of
reasons for this; one is that we’re not seeing an
overwhelming increase in citizenship. More citizens mean
more money is moving around and more money can be
coined but as the Triumvirate is stuck around 25 citizens
we’re not going to see any massive economic growth for
some time and could even see business decline.

Administrator of the Trimester: Andrew Mearl
Speaker of the Administration Andrew Mearl may be the next big man
in the Triumvirate. With the Executive Branch being fairly split up in
terms of who is the dominant say, Andrew Mearl is seen by all as the
definitive leader of the Administrative Branch and possibly even the
most powerful man in the Triumvirate. Andrew Mearl has been willing
to compromise with even the most radical Progressives in the
Executive Branch and was essential in drafting and passing the Tax
Code and the constitutional amendment that followed. A moderate
voice among the Establishment Party, it will be interesting to see his
relationship with Major Executive Elliot Neil in the next trimester.
About to be elected once again as Speaker of the Administration,
Mearl, who has many close contacts within the Executive Branch, will
be one of the biggest political figures of the next trimester.
Rising Star of the Trimester: Nathan Maine
Though he has been called a “loose cannon” and a “Progressive playboy”,
Nathan Maine (“The Aggressive Progressive” as Arnold Ogamon put him),
the Head of Education, has put himself in a position to become the
Progressive equivalent of Arnold Ogamon. His work on the Tax Code and
his keen interest in the workings of the Administrative Branch has made
him an important vote in the Executive Branch. Once thought to be quiet,
Maine’s outburst at Ogamon during the initial tax talks made him famous
nearly overnight. Adored by even some of the staunchest opponents to his
idealism, Maine may become one of the most prominent figures in the
Executive Branch this next trimester as he is the best representation of the
new generation of Executives and of the Triumvirate.
Goodbye of the Trimester: Arnold Ogamon
Though he is not gone yet, he is winding down his extensive career in the Executive
Branch and in the Triumvirate fairly quickly in the next trimester. We all owe it to him to
give him the goodbye he deserves and to feature him as the incredible force he has been.
Arnold Ogamon’s quick ascent from nothing, to Executive, to Minor Executive, and
finally to Major Executive has been studied over and over and is a message to the entire
Triumvirate that with hard work and determination, there is nothing that cannot be
accomplished. The Résumé Policy, Independence Act, Ogamon Protocol, Ogamon
Initiative, Legal Certification, Historical Protection Act, GUARD Act, Rules of Criminal
Procedure, and Procedural Rules of the Executive Branch are only a fraction of the work Arnold Ogamon has done for the
Triumvirate. There is no person in the Triumvirate who hasn’t heard of Arnold Ogamon, which is more than even Zerouh
can say. Indeed, Arnold Ogamon may be a more famous name than Zerouh is within the Triumvirate, and there is no doubt
that history will not look back at Ogamon as one of the greatest leaders and politicians in Triumvirate history.
