BELLEVIEW DRESS STANDARDS
Students are encouraged to dress appropriately for all school activities
and to maintain a high standard of dress. The following standards will be
in effect:
1. A reasonable cleanliness of person and wearing apparel is expected as a
master of health and aesthetics. Neatness, cleanliness, and good grooming are encouraged for all activities.
2. To avoid injury, flip-flop-type sandals and platform shoes are not
permitted. We encourage children to wear tennis shoes to school even
during off gym rotation cycles. State law requires shoes to be worn
inside public buildings.
3. Beach wear, bare midriffs, bare shoulders, “spaghetti-strap” tops (straps
must be minimum of 1” wide or two finger widths), fishnet shirts,
holes in pants, and underwear visible to others is considered inappropriate for school. Short shorts are not appropriate. Lengths that extend
between the middle of the hand to the fingertips, as measured when
the wearer’s arm is at his/her side is often a good measure.
4. Dress or appearance that is so distracting that it clearly interferes with
the teaching/learning process will not be worn (e.g. dyed hair).
5. Hats are not to be worn inside the building during regular school
hours. However, students are highly encouraged to wear hats on the
TECHNOLOGY/CELL PHONES
No portable electronic equipment (e.g., radios, tape or CD players,
laser pointers, pocket TV’s, iPods, MP3 players, or pagers) is allowed at
school. Student cell phones at school are discouraged. However, if students bring a cell phone, it must remain off and in the student’s backpack
during the day. Electronic devices (including cell phones) carried/used
by students during the school day, will be confiscated and given to the
principal until a parent/guardian is able to come to school and collect the
item(s). Belleview is not responsible for lost or stolen item(s).
STUDENT BEHAVIORAL EXPECTATIONS
Students will show T.R.U.S.T.: Teamwork, Respect, Understanding,
Safety, and Truth while at Belleview or on field trips. Student will use
the following question to guide their behavior throughout the day. “Am I
doing the right thing, in the right place, at the right time?” Students can
be recognized for exemplary behavior from any staff member by receiving
a “TRUST” ticket.
playground.
6. Students will be asked to change clothing that depicts or promotes
tobacco, alcohol, and drug use or promotes sexual/ethnic/racial harassment through its logo or message.
Vision and Hearing Screenings: Vision and hearing screenings are held
early in the school year for all new students, kindergarten, first, second,
third and fifth grade students. Parents will be notified by the clinic if any
further examination is needed.
Immunizations: Colorado State law requires all students to be fully
immunized when entering school:
• Records for all students need to be in the clinic before the first day
of school.
• Transferring students have 14 days for records to arrive from their
previous school.
• You will be notified if the immunization record is incomplete.
Contagious Diseases: If your child contracts strep throat, chicken pox,
pink eye or any other contagious disease, please notify the clinic.
Injuries at School: A child who is injured at school will be given first-aid
that is appropriate for the injury incurred. The parents will be notified
immediately if the nurse determines further treatment is necessary.
Nurse: Belleview has daily school nurse services. If a child becomes ill at school,
he/she will be cared for temporarily until the parent can be notified.
HEALTH & SAFETY
Please do not bring animals to school unless you have prior permission
from the office. Numerous students are allergic to fur and/or are frightened of
animals. There is also the possibility of children being bitten by an excited animal. Thank you for leaving your pet at home.
ANIMALS AT SCHOOL
Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. Our district school nurses’ licenses are at risk if they deviate from strict compliance with this policy.
Medicine: Most prescription medications can be administered before or after
school. In the rare case where medicine must be brought to school, please be
aware that our school nurse is required by District policy and state law to have
a “Permission for Medication” form on file, the doctor’s signed order and the
parent’s signature. The medicine must be in the original container, labeled
with the student’s name, the name of the medication, the dosage and the
time and number of days it must be administered. Elementary students may
not self-administer medication at school or while on school supported
functions. Please contact the school clinic if your child will require any
medication at school on a regular basis, including rescue medications such as
Epi-pens and inhalers.
Welcome to the 2011–2012 school year at Belleview Elementary. I look
forward to a successful and exciting year as we continue our dedication to
our mission: “To inspire every student to think, to learn, to achieve, to care.”

IMPORTANT PROCEDURES
Change of address, home and/or business numbers and other emergency information: Please provide these changes of status as soon as possible, in the event Belleview must contact you quickly. You may call the
clinic where emergency information is kept at 720.554.3104. You may also
send in written notification of any changes. In the event you move, you must
take official documents to the Admissions office located at 9150 East Union

be asked to return to the office. Students from other schools or friends of
Belleview students are not allowed to visit during the school day.
Parties: The PTCO plans two parties each year; at Winter break and
Valentine’s day for all Belleview students.

name. A box in the galleria houses all unclaimed items. Please check there
first for those items which have gone missing. Unclaimed items are picked
up by charitable organizations the last day of the month.

Should inclement weather or emergency situations result in the closing of district schools, or in an adjustment to school start or dismissal times, the information will be posted on the district web site, recorded on area hotlines and
conveyed to a number of radio and TV stations for broadcasting. PLEASE
DO NOT CALL BELLEVIEW. Listen to the radio and/or watch television

ABSENCES/TARDINESS
When your child is ill or will be late to school, please call the attendance
line at 720‑554‑3120 before 9:30 AM. Please call for each absence or tardy.
It is of great importance that we know your child is safe with you when not
in attendance.
Any student arriving at school after 9:00 AM must obtain a late pass for
admittance to class. Tardies appear on your child’s report card along with
absence figures. Minutes missed due to being tardy or leaving early can accumulate to an absence.
ATTENDANCE
The importance of regular school attendance cannot be overemphasized.
Children should attend school when they are physically able and are well
enough to participate in all activities (i.e., PE, recess). While missed assignments can be made up, the interaction between students and teachers is irreplaceable. Please keep sick children home in their best interest and for the sake
of the other students. Please plan appointments to the doctor and dentist after
school as much as is within your power to do so. The end of the school day is
a very important time for students to receive homework assignments.
