August Charitable Event It may still be summer, but getting kids ready to go back to school is on everyone’s mind. Sanctuary at Mercy Village is supporting The Women’s Initiative of the Community Foundation to provide backpacks filled with school supplies to low income kids in St. Clair County. It only takes $14 to help one child receive the supplies they need to begin school. A donation jar is available at the front desk, and any amount is appreciated. Mystery Want a little mystery in your day? Hop on the Village bus Aug. 8 at 1:30 p.m. for a ride. Travel Port Huron Travel the St. Clair River on the Huron Lady, Aug. 1 at 12:30 p.m. Jeanne and the Dining Services Team invite you to attend their annual “Summer Sail” Seafood Buffet dinner on Wednesday, Aug. 21. There will be two seatings - 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. - and reservations will be necessary. As seating is limited, please be sure to make your reservations early. So, grab your sailor hat and put on your nautical attire for a great seafood dinner in our “Lake Huron Dining Room.” Prices and menu will be posted. Village Transportation To help keep all our residents on schedule, we would like to remind everyone that transportation requests must be made at least 24 hours in advance and can only be granted for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Our Summer Picnic We had a fantastic time at Fort Gratiot Beach for our annual picnic. Everyone enjoyed hot dogs, hamburgers and the usual picnic favorites. A special thank-you to the friends and family members who volunteered to make our picnic a memorable one. We are already planning for next year! During August, Jeanne, our Dining Services Manager, will be hosting a series of educational in-services focused around nutrition. Good Food! Great Times! Hydration is necessary for good health. Mild dehydration can make you feel sluggish and tired. If you wait until you feel thirsty to drink, you are already dehydrated. Stop by one of the “Hydration Stations” throughout the community for a sip. It’s extra refreshing when it is hot outside.
