School Memories
Reminisce about your past.
Talk with your friends about
your memories and learn how
everyone’s experiences were
similar or different.
• Did you play any sports in
school? Did you ever try
out for any others?
• Were you involved in other
activities, such as debate,
forensics, drama, band or
choir? What was your
favorite part about these
activities?
• Did you ever win any
awards or competitions in
these activities?
• What are your favorite
memories of your high
school years?
Volunteers of the Month
Donna Bluhm and Dale
Bubel have been selected as
Volunteers of the Month. As
Co-Directors of our Community
Safety Team, they participate in
getting the word out throughout
our community of severe
weather or false alarms. Thank
you, Donna and Dale, for all
you do!
• When was the first bathing
suit worn?
• Which people wore the first
sunglasses?
• What state grows the most
lemons?
• In what year did the first ice
cream parlor open?

Village Transportation
To help keep all our residents
on schedule, we would like to
remind everyone that
transportation requests must be
made at least 24 hours in
advance and can only be granted
for Monday, Tuesday and
Wednesday.
Our Summer Picnic
We had a fantastic time at
Fort Gratiot Beach for our
annual picnic. Everyone enjoyed
hot dogs, hamburgers and the
usual picnic favorites. A special
thank-you to the friends and
family members who
volunteered to make our picnic
a memorable one. We are
already planning for next year!
How to Plant Your
Garden for Daily Living

Why Water?
Good Food!
Great Times!
Hydration is necessary for
good health. Mild dehydration
can make you feel sluggish and
tired. If you wait until you feel
thirsty to drink, you are already
dehydrated. Stop by one of the
“Hydration Stations”
throughout the community for a
sip. It’s extra refreshing when it
is hot outside.
Plant three rows of peas:
• Peace of mind
• Peace of heart
• Peace of soul
Plant four rows of squash:
• Squash gossip
• Squash indifference
• Squash grumbling
• Squash selfishness
Plant four rows of lettuce:
• Lettuce be faithful
• Lettuce be kind
• Lettuce be patient
• Lettuce really love one
another
No garden is without turnips:
• Turnip for meetings
• Turnip for service
• Turnip to help one another
To conclude our garden we
must have thyme:
• Thyme for each other
• Thyme for family
• Thyme for friends
Water freely with patience
and cultivate with love.
Remember: you reap what
you sow.
