WIMBLEDON HIGH SCHOOL COMMEMORATIVE BUNTING PROJECT As part of the Diamond Jubilee and London 2012 Olympics celebrations we are creating Wimbledon High School commemorative bunting. What is bunting? In case you’re not sure, bunting is a string of small triangular flags (pennants) – it’s often used at fairs, fetes and parties for decoration. We’d like anyone connected with the school to contribute – pupils, teachers, staff, parents, brothers, sisters, family and friends. We’re aiming for at least 20.12 metres of colourful, unique and beautiful bunting! You can contribute in three ways: Option One Design and donate your own unique fabric pennants(s). The finished pennant(s) should be the size and shape of the template attached – your pennant design can be as unique and creative as you like – please use fabric to make the pennant and you can use any medium to create your design ‐ paint, pens, fabric, sequins ‐ the design should be permanent and waterproof . You can contribute as many pennants as you like – your design could be a series of pennants, you could contribute as a group or individually. Some design ideas: Union Jack, Olympic colours, EIIR, WHS, school apple, house colours, initials and 2012 are just a few. (If you are cutting out the pennants please use pinking shears or similar so the edges don’t fray.) Option Two Donate undecorated pennants cut or made from your own fabric – the finished pennant should be the size and shape of the attached template (again, if you are cutting out the pennants please use pinking shears or similar so the edges don’t fray). Option Three Donate any spare fabric you have – fabric that is plain or has a small pattern works best – we will create the pennants and assemble the bunting using the fabric donated. Please leave your contributions (with your name and form) in the boxes marked “Bunting” by the WHSA post boxes in school as soon as possible and no later than FRIDAY 1ST JUNE. If you would like to assist with assembling the bunting (you’ll need a sewing machine) please let me know. The bunting will have its first airing at the WHSA Summer Fair on Sunday 17th June – so you can come along and see your work on display. Please direct any queries to me at [email protected] . Many thanks and happy creating!
