Just for Fun…
Pick a number from 0-9 (e.g. 4) and double it (e.g.
4x2=8).
Add five to the new number (e.g. 8+5=13).
Now multiply the number by 5 (e.g. 13x5=65). Remember this answer.
Pick another number from 0-9 (e.g. 7) and add it to your
answer (e.g. 65+7=72).
Subtract 25 from your total (e.g. 72-25= 47).
The first digit of your answer (e.g. 4) was the first number you chose. The second digit of your answer (e.g. 7)
was the second number you chose! How does it work?


Neptune was named after the Roman god of
the sea.
Neptune is the fourth largest planet in the solar
system and is about 60 times bigger than planet
Earth.
It takes Neptune 165 Earth years to orbit the
sun. In 2011, Neptune completed its first orbit of
the sun since its discovery in 1846.
Neptune takes about 19 hours to spin once.
Neptune has 14 moons, the largest of which is
called Triton.
The smallest of the ‘gas giants’, Neptune has a
series of thin rings. These rings are believed to
be made up of ice particles and dust.
Neptune had a ‘spot’ of high winds and storms.
It was called ‘The Great Dark Spot’ and was
about the same size as planet Earth.
Neptune has the strongest winds in the solar
system, with hurricanes of up to 2000 km per
hour (1200 miles per hour)!
The average temperature of Neptune is –214°C
(about -353°F).
Neptune was the first planet to be located using
mathematics rather than observation.
What I Need To Do
These are the targets I need to achieve to
complete Neptune
I can recognise any multiple of 12
I can convert a metric unit of length into
any other metric unit of length
I can recognise and represent numbers up
to 63 written in binary notation
I can convert an improper fraction into a
mixed number fraction
I can round any number with up to three
decimal places to the nearest hundredth
I can add integers
Date I first met the
target
Date I met the target
Date I
for the second time completed the target
