Teacher Welcome for 2016-2017 Teacher Name: Mandy Drephal Room number: 0028 Department: World Languages (Spanish) E-mail: [email protected] Welcome to KHS World Language Department! I’m Mrs. Drephal and this is my eighth year at KHS. I’ve been a Spanish Instructor since 2002. I received my B.A. in Spanish and Psychology from UW-Madison in 2000. My teaching certification was completed at Concordia University in 2003. I began my teaching career in the Madison area where I was a teacher at Edgewood High School. My husband Bill and I both grew up in the Fox Valley area and love calling the Valley home as we raise our family. Studying a language can open up possibilities and capabilities that you may never have gotten a chance to see otherwise. I am honored and excited to help you discover where studying Spanish can take you. Personally, my practice of Spanish has taken me to Mexico and throughout Spain and even throughout the Fox Valley area. Along the way I’ve been blessed with wonderful and enriching relationships and experiences. I look forward to having you in class. Be ready and willing to explore your own capabilities. We will be immersing ourselves in Spanish with day one of class. We are a BYOD course (Bring Your Own Device). Your device is expected to be charged and ready to go every day we have class. Please bring the following supplies for class: * DEVICE (chromebook or laptop) (new for 2016-2017) -3 ring binder (about 1-11/2 inch) (just for Spanish) -loose leaf paper -2 or 3 dry erase markers -any previous vocabulary sheets from any previous levels of Spanish study -positive attitude “Language is the key, for words can ultimately make the difference between ignorance and understanding, between poverty and wealth, between war and peace.” –Dr. William Hopkins
