Choral Eucharist with The Order of Confirmation from the Book of Common Prayer Sunday 4 November 2012 The Rector Writes May I welcome you to Christ Church on this my last Sunday! If you are a visitor today please make yourself known to me at the door as you leave. Today is a day of great sadness for me as I deal with the grief I feel at leaving Christ Church, but it also contains great joy at being able to spend this time today with my brothers and sisters in Christ. Please join with me and the Rectory family in the Parish Hall following the 10am service for high tea. This opportunity will allow us to personally say our farewell to you. On a brighter note this year's Mission Fete has raised the grand sum of $6,800 for Anglican Mission Projects. A break-up showing the amounts raised by each stall is inside the back cover. We also welcome Brett Green, Polly Tembel and Jenny Toogood who are being confirmed today. Please pray for them in this new chapter of their Christian life as they stand and confirm Christ in their lives. If you are able I would love you to join me tonight at Evensong to pray specifically for the future of the Parish. Rachele joins me in wishing every blessing for the future to everyone. Yours in Christ Lyndon + 2 At the sounding of the bell the People shall stand for the entry of the Sanctuary Party. Processional Music: March on “ Lasst Uns Erfreun” - June Nixon (1942-) ℣ The Lord be with you. ℟ And with thy Spirit. Then shall be said the Introit Sentence W E praise thee, O God: we acknowledge thee to be the Lord. All the earth doth worship thee: the Father everlasting. Then shall be sung the hymn for the Introit. All my hope on God is founded; he doth still my trust renew. Me through change and chance he guideth, only good and only true. God unknown, he alone calls my heart to be his own. Pride of man and earthly glory, sword and crown betray his trust; what with care and toil he buildeth, tower and temple, fall to dust. But God's power, hour by hour, is my temple and my tower. 3 God's great goodness aye endureth, deep his wisdom, passing thought: splendour, light and life attend him, beauty springeth out of naught. Evermore from his store new-born worlds rise and adore. Still from man to God eternal sacrifice of praise be done, high above all praises praising for the gift of Christ his Son. Christ doth call one and all: ye who follow shall not fall. The Commissioning of Mr Andrew Georg as the Organist and Choir Director of Christ Church, North Adelaide The Rector: Brothers and Sisters in Christ Jesus, we are all baptised by the one Spirit into one Body, and given gifts for a variety of ministries for the common good. Our purpose is to commission this person, Andrew Georg, in the Name of God and of this congregation to the special ministry to which he has been called as the Organist and Choir Director in this Parish. Church Wardens: Reverend Sir, We present to you Mr Andrew Georg to be admitted to the ministry and office of Organist and Choir Director in this congregation. 4 Rector: Is this person prepared by a commitment to Christ as Lord, by regular attendance at worship, and by the knowledge of his duties, to exercise this ministry to the honour of God, and the well-being of his Church? Church Warden: I believe he is. Rector: Andrew, you have been called to a ministry in this congregation. Will you, as long as you are engaged in this ministry, perform it with diligence? I will. Andrew: Rector: Will you faithfully and reverently execute the duties of this ministry to the honour of God, and the benefit of this congregation? Andrew: I will. Rector: Let us pray. O God, in whom saints and angels delight to worship in heaven, be ever present with your servants who seek, through music, to perfect the praises offered by your people on earth; and grant them even now, glimpses of your beauty, make them worthy, at length, to behold it unveiled for evermore; through Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN In the Name of God and of this congregation, I commission you, Andrew, as the Organist and Choir Director of this Parish of Christ Church, North Adelaide and I give you this medallion as a token of your ministry. 5 All kneel. The Priest prays: O UR Father, which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done, in earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; But deliver us from evil. Amen. Then shall the Priest say, together with the People: A LMIGHTY God, unto whom all hearts be open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hid; Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of thy Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love thee, and worthily magnify thy holy Name; through Christ our Lord. Amen. Then shall be sung: Kyrie, eleison Christe, eleison Kyrie, eleison Lord, have mercy upon us. Christ, have mercy upon us. Lord, have mercy upon us. Then shall be said the Collect for the Day. Let us pray. L ORD, we beseech thee to keep thy household the Church in continual godliness; that through thy protection it may be free from all adversities, and devoutly given to serve thee in good works, to the glory of thy name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Then shall the People sit for the Epistle. The Epistle is written in the First Chapter of the Epistle of Saint Paul the Apostle to the Philippians beginning at the third verse. thank my God upon every remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy, for your fellowship in the Gospel from the first day until now; being confident of this very thing, that he who hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ; even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart, inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation I 6 of the Gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace. For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ. And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgement: that ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere, and without offence, till the day of Christ: being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ unto the glory and praise of God. Here endeth the Epistle. Then shall the people stand to sing Psalm 19, 7-15 for the Gradual 7 The law of the Lord is an undefiled law con|verting the | soul : the testimony of the Lord is sure, and giveth | wisdom | unto the | simple. 8 The statutes of the Lord are right and | rejoice the | heart : the commandment of the Lord is pure, and giveth | light un|to the | eyes. 9 The fear of the Lord is clean and en|dureth for |ever : the judgements of the Lord are true and |righteous |alto|gether. 10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea than |much fine | gold : sweeter also than | honey |and the | honey-comb. 11 Moreover by them is thy | servant | taught : and in keeping of them |there is |great re|ward. 12 Who can tell how | oft he of|fendeth : O cleanse thou me |from my | secret | faults. 13 Keep thy servant also from presumptuous sins, lest they get the do|minion | over me : so shall I be undefiled and |innocent • from the | great of|fence. 14 Let the | words of my | mouth : and the medi|tation | of my | heart; 15 be alway acceptable | in thy | sight : O Lord, my | strength and | my re|deemer. 7 At the beginning of the Gospel: Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia! Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia! Ye that fear the Lord put your | trust in | him: he is their | helper | and de|fender. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia! The Holy Gospel is written in the Fourteenth Chapter of Saint John beginning at the fifteenth verse. Glory be to thee, O Lord. Jesus said unto his disciples: f ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also. At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world? Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me. These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. . Praise be to thee, O Christ. I 8 Then shall be sung the Creed by Priest and People: I BELIEVE in one God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And of all things visible and invisible: AND in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten son of God, Begotten of his Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, Very God of very God, Begotten, not made, Being of one substance with the Father, By whom all things were made: Who for us men, and for our salvation came down from heaven, And was incarnate by the Holy Ghost of the Virgin Mary, And was made man, And was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate. He suffered and was buried, And the third day he rose again according to the Scriptures, And ascended into heaven, And sitteth on the right hand of the Father. And he shall come again with glory to judge both the quick and the dead: Whose kingdom shall have no end. AND I believe in the Holy Ghost, The Lord and giver of life, Who proceedeth from the Father and the Son, Who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified, Who spake by the Prophets. And I believe one Catholick and Apostolick Church. I acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins. And I look for the Resurrection of the dead, And the life of the world to come. Amen. Then shall the People sit for the Sermon The Reverend David Bassett Rector of St Matthew’s, Marryatville. Please stand to sing the Confirmation Hymn O Jesus, I have promised to serve thee to the end; be thou forever near me, my Master and my Friend: I shall not fear the battle if thou art by my side, nor wander from the pathway if thou wilt be my guide. 9 O Jesus, thou hast promised to all who follow thee, that where thou art in glory there shall thy servant be; and, Jesus I have promised to serve thee to the end; O give me grace to follow, my Master and my Friend. O let me see thy foot-marks, and in them plant mine own; my hope to follow duly is in thy strength alone. O guide me, call me, draw me, uphold me to the end; and then in heaven receive me, my Saviour and my Friend. The Congregation are seated. Confirmation Candidates stand at the chancel steps before the Bishop. D THE ORDER OF CONFIRMATION early beloved in the Lord, in ministering Confirmation the church doth follow the example of the Apostles of Christ. For in the eighth chapter of the Acts of Apostles we thus read: “They therefore that were scattered abroad went about preaching the word. And Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and proclaimed unto them the Christ. When they believed Philip preaching good tidings concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: for as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they had been baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus. Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.” 10 The Scripture here teacheth us that a special gift of the Holy Spirit is bestowed through laying on hands with prayer. And forasmuch as this gift cometh from God alone, let us who are here present pray to Almighty God, that he will strengthen with his Holy Spirit in Confirmation those who in Baptism were made his children. You, then, who are to be confirmed must now declare before this congregation that you are steadfastly purposed, with the help of this gift, to lead your life in the faith of Christ and in obedience to God’s will and commandments; and must openly acknowledge yourselves bound to fulfil the Christian duties to which your Baptism hath pledged you. THE RENEWAL OF BAPTISMAL VOWS Do ye here, in the presence of God, and of this congregation, renew the solemn promise and vow that was made at your baptism, ratifying and confessing the same in your own persons, and acknowledging yourselves bound to believe, and to do, all those things, which your Godfathers and Godmothers then undertook for you to do? The confirmees shall audibly answer, I do Let us pray. Almighty and everliving God, who hast vouchsafed to regenerate these thy servants by water and the Holy Ghost, and hast given unto them forgiveness of all their sins: Strengthen them, we beseech thee, O Lord, with the Holy Ghost the Comforter, and daily increase in them thy manifold gifts of grace; the spirit of wisdom and understanding; the spirit of counsel and ghostly strength; the spirit of knowledge and true godliness; and fill them, O Lord, with the spirit of thy holy fear, now and for ever. Amen. Then all of them in order kneeling before the Bishop, he shall lay his hand upon the head of every one severally, saying, Defend, O Lord, this thy servant…….. with thy heavenly grace, that he/she may continue thine for ever; and daily increase in thy Holy Spirit more and more, until he/she comes unto thy everlasting kingdom. Amen. 11 Let us pray. A lmighty and everliving God, who makest us both to will and to do those things that be good and acceptable unto thy divine Majesty; We make our humble supplications unto thee for these thy servants, upon whom after the example of thy holy Apostles we have now laid our hands, to certify them by this sign of thy favour and gracious goodness towards them. Let thy fatherly hand, we beseech thee, ever be over them; let thy Holy Spirit ever be with them; and so lead them in the knowledge and obedience of thy Word, that in the end they may obtain everlasting life; through our Lord Jesus Christ, who with thee and the Holy Ghost liveth and reigneth, ever one God, world without end. Amen. DEDICATION OF THE RECTOR’S STALL The Priest shall begin the Offertory, saying this sentence of Scripture, W E being confident of this very thing, that he who hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:6 Then shall the people stand to sing the Hymn for the Offertory. Alleluia, sing to Jesus! His the sceptre, his the throne; Alleluia, His the triumph, his the victory alone. Hark, the songs of peaceful Sion thunder like a mighty flood; Jesus out of every nation hath redeemed us by his blood. Alleluia, not as orphans are we left in sorrow now; Alleluia, He is near us, faith believes, nor questions how: Though the cloud from sight received him, when the forty days were o'er, shall our hearts forget his promise, 'I am with you evermore'? 12 Alleluia, bread of angels, thou on earth our food, our stay; Alleluia, here the sinful flee to thee from day to day: Intercessor, Friend of sinners, earth's Redeemer, plead for me, where the songs of all the sinless sweep across the crystal sea. Alleluia, King eternal, thee the Lord of lords we own; Alleluia, born of Mary, earth thy footstool, heaven thy throne: thou within the veil hast entered, robed in flesh, our great High Priest; thou on earth both Priest and Victim in the eucharistic feast. Then shall be said the Prayers, the people kneeling humbly upon their knees. Those in particular need: Jan Keay, Heather Denholm, Sam Burston, Paul Leeson, David Strachan, Jim Love, Jay Engelbrecht, Peter Hodgetts, Cathy Jupp, Alick Kennedy, David Brock, George Wright and Stephanie Morley. Years’ Mind: Stella Guthrie, Marilyn Annette Luscombe, Gerald John Reglar (Pr), Helen Prudence Elton “Pru” Bonnin, James "Jamie" Campbell Irwin, Mary Flora Pank, Heather Blanche Bruce, Andrew John Maskell and Peter Webb. ℣ Rest eternal grant unto them, O Lord. ℟ And let light perpetual shine upon them. Let us pray for the whole state of Christ’s Church militant here in earth. 13 A LMIGHTY and everliving God, who by thy holy Apostle hast taught us to make prayers, and supplications, and to give thanks for all men; We humbly beseech thee most mercifully to accept our alms and oblations, and to receive these our prayers, which we offer unto thy Divine Majesty; beseeching thee to inspire continually the Universal Church with the spirit of truth, unity, and concord: And grant, that all they that do confess thy holy Name may agree in the truth of thy holy Word, and live in unity, and godly love. We beseech thee also to save and defend all Christian Kings, Princes, and Governors; and specially thy Servant ELIZABETH our Queen; that under her we may be godly and quietly governed: And grant unto her whole Council, and to all that are put in authority under her, that they may truly and indifferently minister justice, to the punishment of wickedness and vice, and to the maintenance of thy true religion, and virtue. GIVE grace, O heavenly Father, to all Bishops and Curates, that they may both by their life and doctrine set forth thy true and lively Word, and rightly and duly administer thy holy Sacraments. AND to all thy people give thy heavenly grace; and especially to this congregation here present; that, with meek heart and due reverence, they may hear, and receive thy holy Word; truly serving thee in holiness and righteousness all the days of their life. And we most humbly beseech thee, of thy goodness, O Lord, to comfort and succour all them, who in this transitory life, are in trouble, sorrow, need, sickness, or any other adversity. And we also bless thy holy Name for all thy servants departed this life in thy faith and fear; beseeching thee to give us grace so to follow their good examples, that with them we may be partakers of thy heavenly kingdom. Grant this, O Father, for Jesus Christ’s sake, our only Mediator and Advocate. Amen. Then shall the Priest say: Y E that do truly and earnestly repent you of your sins, and are in love and charity with your neighbours, and intend to lead a new life, following the commandments of God, and walking from henceforth in his holy ways; Draw near with faith, and take this holy Sacrament to your comfort; and make your humble confession to Almighty God, meekly kneeling upon your knees. 14 Then shall this general Confession be made. A LMIGHTY God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Maker of all things, judge of all men; We acknowledge and bewail our manifold sins and wickedness, Which we, from time to time, most grievously have committed, By thought, word, and deed, Against thy Divine Majesty, Provoking most justly thy wrath and indignation against us. We do earnestly repent, And are heartily sorry for these our misdoings; The remembrance of them is grievous unto us; The burden of them is intolerable. Have mercy upon us, Have mercy upon us, most merciful Father; For thy Son our Lord Jesus Christ’s sake, Forgive us all that is past; And grant that we may ever hereaſter Serve and please thee In newness of life, To the honour and glory of thy Name; Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Then shall the Bishop, turning himself to the people, pronounce the Absolution. A LMIGHTY God, our heavenly Father, who of his great mercy hath promised forgiveness of sins to all them that with hearty repentance and true faith turn unto him; Have mercy upon you; pardon and deliver you from all your sins; confirm and strengthen you in all goodness; and bring you to everlasting life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Then shall the Priest say: H EAR what comfortable words our Saviour Christ saith unto all that truly turn to him. COME unto me all that travail and are heavy laden, and I will refresh you. St. Matth. xi. 28. SO God loved the world, that he gave his only-begotten Son, to the end that all that believe in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. St. John iii. 16. Hear also what Saint Paul saith: THIS is a true saying, and worthy of all men to be received, That Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. 1 Tim i. 15. 15 Hear also what Saint John saith: IF any man sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; and he is the propitiation for our sins. 1 John ii. 1. Aſter which the Priest shall proceed: ℣ The Lord be with you ℟ And with thy spirit. ℣ Liſt up your hearts. ℟ We liſt them up unto the Lord. ℣ Let us give thanks unto our Lord God. ℟ It is meet and right so to do. Then shall the Priest turn to the Lord’s Table, and say: I T is very meet, right, and our bounden duty, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks unto thee, O Lord, Holy Father, Almighty, Everlasting God. THEREFORE with Angels and Archangels, and with all the company of heaven, we laud and magnify thy glorious Name; evermore praising thee, and saying: Then shall be sung Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of hosts, heaven and earth are full of thy glory: Glory be to thee, O Lord most High. Blessed is He that cometh in the name of the Lord, Hosanna in the Highest. Then shall be said this Prayer: WE do not presume to come to this thy Table, O merciful Lord, trusting in our own righteousness, but in thy manifold and great mercies. We are not worthy so much as to gather up the crumbs under thy Table. But thou art the same Lord, whose property is always to have mercy: Grant us therefore, gracious Lord, so to eat the flesh of thy dear Son Jesus Christ, and to drink his blood, that our sinful bodies may be made clean by his body, and our souls washed through his most precious blood, and that we may evermore dwell in him, and he in us. Amen. 16 Then the Priest, standing before the Table, shall say the Prayer of Consecration. A LMIGHTY God, our heavenly Father, who of thy tender mercy didst give thine only Son Jesus Christ to suffer death upon the Cross for our redemption; who made there (by his one oblation of himself once offered) a full, perfect, and sufficient sacrifice, oblation, and satisfaction, for the sins of the whole world; and did institute, and in his holy Gospel command us to continue, a perpetual memory of that his precious death, until his coming again. HEAR us, O merciful Father, we most humbly beseech thee; and grant that we receiving these thy creatures of bread and wine, according to thy Son our Saviour Jesus Christ’s holy institution, in remembrance of his death and passion, may be partakers of his most blessed Body and Blood: who, in the same night that he was betrayed, took Bread; and, when he had given thanks, he brake it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, TAKE, EAT, THIS IS MY BODY WHICH IS GIVEN FOR YOU: DO THIS IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME. LIKEWISE aſter supper he took the Cup; and, when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, DRINK YE ALL OF THIS; FOR THIS IS MY BLOOD OF THE NEW TESTAMENT, WHICH IS SHED FOR YOU AND FOR MANY FOR THE REMISSION OF SINS: DO THIS, AS OFT AS YE SHALL DRINK IT, IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME. WHEREFORE, O Lord and heavenly Father, we thy humble servants entirely desire thy fatherly goodness mercifully to accept this our sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving. MOST humbly beseeching thee to grant, that by the merits and death of thy son Jesus Christ, and through faith in his blood, we and all thy whole Church may obtain remission of our sins, and all other benefits of his passion. AND here we offer and present unto thee, O Lord, ourselves, our souls and bodies, to be a reasonable, holy, and lively sacrifice unto thee; humbly beseeching thee, that all we, who are partakers of this holy Communion, may be fulfilled with thy grace and heavenly benediction. 17 AND although we be unworthy, through our manifold sins, to offer unto thee any sacrifice, yet we beseech thee to accept this our bounden duty and service; not weighing our merits, but pardoning our offences. THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord; by whom, and with whom, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, all honour and glory be unto thee, O Father Almighty, world without end. Amen. Then shall the Priest sing the Lord’s Prayer, together with the People. As our Saviour Christ hath commanded and taught us, we are bold to pray: O UR Father, which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, in earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; But deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, The power, and the glory, For ever and ever. Amen. ℣ The peace of the Lord be alway with you. ℟ And with thy spirit. Then shall be sung the Agnus Dei. O Lamb of God, that takest away the sins of the world, have mercy upon us. O Lamb of God, that takest away the sins of the world, have mercy upon us. O Lamb of God, that takest away the sins of the world, grant us thy peace. And aſter that shall the people, meekly kneeling, receive communion. There will be 3 stations for Communion: At the High Altar, At the Chapel &At the Font Please use the most convenient to you. (Please note that we do not offer intinction of the host wafer into the Chalice.) 18 Then shall be sung the Communion Hymns: Come down, O Love divine, seek thou this soul of mine, and visit it with thine own ardour glowing; O Comforter, draw near, within my heart appear, and kindle it, thy holy flame bestowing. O let it freely burn, till earthly passions turn to dust and ashes in its heat consuming; and let thy glorious light shine ever on my sight, and clothe me round, the while my path illuming. Let holy charity mine outward vesture be, and lowliness become mine inner clothing: true lowliness of heart, which takes the humbler part, and o'er its own shortcomings weeps with loathing. And so the yearning strong, with which the soul will long, shall far outpass the power of human telling; for none can guess its grace, till he become the place wherein the Holy Spirit makes his dwelling. 19 Faithful Shepherd, feed me in the pastures green; Faithful Shepherd, lead me where thy steps are seen. Hold me fast, and guide me in the narrow way; so, with thee beside me, I shall never stray. Daily bring me nearer to the heavenly shore; may my faith grow clearer, may I love thee more. Hallow every pleasure, every gift and pain; be thyself my treasure, though none else I gain. Day by day prepare me as thou seest best, then let angels bear me to thy promised rest. Aſter shall be said as followeth: A LMIGHTY and everliving God, we most heartily thank thee, for that thou dost vouchsafe to feed us, who have duly received these holy mysteries, with the spiritual food of the most precious Body and Blood of thy Son our Saviour Jesus Christ; and dost assure us thereby of thy favour and goodness towards us; and that we are very members incorporate in the mystical body of thy Son, which is the blessed company of all faithful people; and are also heirs through hope of thy everlasting kingdom, by the merits of the most precious death and passion of thy dear Son. 20 AND we most humbly beseech thee, O heavenly Father, so to assist us with thy grace, that we may continue in that holy fellowship, and do all such good works as thou hast prepared for us to walk in; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with thee and the Holy Ghost, be all honour and glory, world without end. Amen. Please stand to sing the Gloria. Gloria in Excelsis Deo G LORY be to God on high, and in earth peace, good will towards men. We praise thee, we bless thee, we worship thee, we glorify thee, we give thanks to thee for thy great glory, O Lord God, heavenly King, God the Father Almighty. O LORD, the only-begotten Son, Jesu Christ; O Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, that takest away the sins of the world, have mercy upon us. Thou that takest away the sins of the world, have mercy upon us. Thou that takest away the sins of the world, receive our prayer. Thou that sittest at the right hand of God the Father, have mercy upon us. FOR thou only art holy; thou only art the Lord; thou only, O Christ, with the Holy Ghost, art most high in the glory of God the Father. Amen. Then the Priest shall give this Blessing. Please kneel. THE peace of God, which passeth all understanding, keep your hearts and minds in the knowledge and love of God, and of his son Jesus Christ our Lord: and the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, be amongst you and remain with you always. Amen. Then shall be sung the Final Hymn Christ triumphant, ever reigning, Saviour, Master, King! Lord of heaven, our lives sustaining, hear us as we sing: Yours the glory and the crown, the high renown, the eternal name! 21 Word incarnate, truth revealing, Son of Man on earth! power and majesty concealing by your humble birth: Yours the glory and the crown, the high renown, the eternal name! Priestly king, enthroned for ever high in heaven above! sin and death and hell shall never stifle hymn of love: Yours the glory and the crown, the high renown, the eternal name! So, our hearts and voices raising through the ages long, ceaselessly upon you gazing, this shall be our song: Yours the glory and the crown, the high renown, the eternal name! Then shall be played the Postlude for the recession of the Sanctuary Party Recessional Music: Nun danket alle Gott: Marche Triomphale (Op.65 no59) - Sigfrid Karg-Elert (1877 -1933) Please join us for High tea in the hall. 22 The flowers in the Lady Chapel are given in loving memory of The Reverend Canon Gerald John Reglar.
