It always reminds me that we need to really celebrate our Risen Lord and not let familiarity diminish the awesomeness of what God has done for us. That has been the message of our Lenten study, “He Chose the Nails” by Max Lucado. It was God’s great love that made a way for us to be forgiven and made children of God. When we recognize our own sinfulness we truly see the great gift God gave us when he sent his Son to become one of us. This is not a small thing. We no longer live in hopelessness because there is nothing we can do to rid ourselves of the guilt of our actions and make us worthy of God’s love. We sing “Amazing Grace” almost by rote. When we grasp how amazing it is that we are forgiven we too have that “YES!” as expressed in the cartoon. May you begin every day with a “YES!” to God. Peace, Pastor Doris Women of the ELCA Bible Study. PURPOSE STATEMENT— As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society, and the world. We will meet on April 19 at 6:00 for dessert. Our study is: Session 4: For freedom Christ has set us free (Galatians 5:1-6:18) Kit Kleinhans, a professor at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, will share a four-session Reformation anniversary Bible study on “Galatians: Christian faith and Christian freedom.” "Biblical scholars describe Paul’s letter to the Galatians as the Magna Carta of Christian freedom," Kleinhans writes. "Martin Luther called it 'my Katie von Bora.' Like his marriage to Katie, Luther’s relationship with Galatians was a rich and lasting one: over a period of 20 years, he published six commentaries on the epistle. Luther’s reformation was centered in the doctrine of justification by grace through faith for Christ’s sake, which he saw as the heart of Paul’s letter to the Christians in Galatia. It is also the heart of Paul’s–and–Luther’s message for us today." We will share responsibilities for leading the study. Pastor Doris will provide dessert. You are always welcome to join us and to invite a friend to join you. ++++++++++++++++++ Holy Comforters Holy Comforters have been on break this winter due to illness, the weather and several folk doing rehab. The new schedule is the 2nd Tuesday of the month beginning in May. We will probably work through the summer. Bring a friend and see how easy it is to help! EVANSVILLE CLUSTER WELCA SPRING GATHERING 10:00 am – 3:00pm Christ Lutheran Church Haysville, IN Registration $7 (Pastor Doris can drive 3 people) SOAP FOR LUTHERAN WORLD RELIEF Please bring in a bar or several bars of soap in the month of April. We will have a box out to collect it. Those people who are living in refugee camps and other areas of disaster are very much in need of soap to stay clean and healthy. It is a small thing that we can do to send this much needed commodity their way. All bars need to be in their original wrapper but they can be any size from hotel to bath. In some developing countries a single bar of soap used for bathing, dishes and clothes can cost 25% of a family’s monthly income. Ivory soap is a hard milled soap that can be used for everything. Highway Sign-Thank You Joe and Pam! Our sign has been updated on a much more regular basis as Pam and Joe Graves have taken on the task. We know that people read it by comments made to members. APRIL BIRTHDAYS April 8 Janet McNabb April 24 Carolyn Konnert and Shirley Swindall April 26 Natalie Fields ==================== The Konnert’s are coming! The Konnert’s are coming! Carolyn and Mike Konnert will be in town on Sunday, April 9 and will be in worship. They would like to go to the Asian Buffet in town after service and invited anyone else who would like to come (Dutch treat) so they can have an opportunity to visit with as many people as possible. We do miss them, don’t we! ____________________________________________________ SUNDAY SCHEDULE Worship 9:30AM Coffee Hour 10:30AM Trinity Lutheran Church 1759 E St Hwy 54 Linton, IN 47441 Linton Food Pantry 440 E Street NE Linton, IN Phone: (812) 847-7901 Tues & Thurs 1-4 pm Saturday 10-Noon ADDRESS CORRECTION REQUESTED RETURN POSTAGE GUARANTEED
