No registration, ticket,
or library card required.
registered early for our 2014 Summer Reading Program. Our youngest readers get a
head start so they will have plenty of time to reach their goals. Parents may choose
between either an early literacy activities log or timed reading log for babies, toddlers, and
preschoolers. Register in Youth Services and get all of the tools you need to get started!
Rewards for our Early Start readers can be earned Monday, May 19 through
Sunday, August 10.

Storytime sessions begin the week of April 7 and run through the week of April 21. Each storytime

If you’ve finished your Join the Club reading log, be sure
to reap the rewards of all your hard work! If you haven’t

log, you will earn a book and prize. Our reading program
is self-paced and independent. Stop by Youth Services for

Families can build skyscrapers, vehicles, and other awe-inspiring creations with our collection of LEGO® bricks!
Once your project is complete, we’ll take a photo of you and your LEGO® creation to proudly display in Youth
Services. Children attend with a participating adult. Younger siblings are welcome - DUPLO® bricks
are available for siblings under 5 years old.

We are looking for dedicated teen volunteers to assist
with the 2014 Summer Reading Program: Fizz Boom
Read. VolunTeens work 2 hours each week in June, July,
and early August at the Youth Services summer reading
registration table. Applications will be available at the
Youth Services desk and online at helenplum.org/youthservices. VolunTeens selected to participate must attend an
orientation session on:
Design a Mouse Pad
All ages through grade 8

Fizz Boom Read is our 2014 Summer Reading theme
and we are looking for some original book and science
themed artwork. The winning entries will be used for new
mouse pad designs in Youth Services. You can create your
entry at home or use supplies we provide. Stop by or visit
our website starting April 1 for contest rules, tips and
more details. Winning designs will be announced during
Children’s Book Week, May 12 - 18. Winning designers
will receive a mouse pad, too!
Youth Services has iPads!
iPads are for in-house use and are pre-loaded with kidfriendly apps. Check out our Pinterest page to see the
apps we have: pinterest.com/plumlib. The iPads are
available courtesy of the Edgar Robbins Fund, established
due to the generosity of Carol Anne Robbins.
