I had a chance to interview him for a school assignment and learned of his WWII experiences. He was one of the nicest people you could meet! Keeping Mrs. Daniel and the family in our thoughts. Andrea Lavine Dec 19, 2016 01:40 PM Marcia and family, While neighbors on Seven Mile Lane your presence was a special part of our young family's life. You welcomed us as a young married couple and encouraged us as our family grew. You and Ries were incredible role-models of kindness and community involvement, not to mention the Home and Gardens example you set for all. May you and the family find comfort in the memories, Andrea Lavine Dovey Kahn Dec 19, 2016 01:42 PM To Reis" family, I knew Reis as a Big Brother to David. Many years have passed and it is notable that Reis was a major part of David's life. However in the occasions when I would see Reis he was beaming about David and what he meant in his (Reis") life. It was a privilege to know this gentle man and this gentleman. Truly a representative of The Greatest Generation. May you be comforted with the beautiful memories you have of this special man. Fondly, Dovey Kahn Terry Ries DellaVecchia Dec 19, 2016 01:47 PM I'm very sad to hear that Uncle Ries passed away this weekend. My heartfelt condolences to Aunt Marcia, Bruce and Malcolm. Oliver Bronstein Dec 19, 2016 05:11 PM Ries was such a sweet man, and he was always smiling. I remember once, when I was little, I accidentally called him my grandpa. It made him so happy, and he couldn't stop smiling. He was a very happy man who lived a very happy life, brightening the lives of those around him. He was always a wonderful father figure to my own dad. I hope Ries knew how much he means to my family. Russell Smith Dec 20, 2016 09:23 AM The Daniels were our neighbors as long as I can remember. Mr. Daniel was the kindest, gentlest person I ever knew. He was almost preternaturally becalmed, peaceful and happy. I remember his kind consolation over a problem in 1990, and I had the the same opportunity to interview him for the school assignment, and was surprised to learn he was in WWII, which I was studying at the time. I miss him. Paul Reamer Dec 20, 2016 10:28 AM Marcia and family, We will all miss Ries, his smile and the perfect gentleman.May your wonderful memory's be a comfort. WE ARE MARK AND BUNNIES FRIENDS Bruce Craven Dec 20, 2016 07:37 PM Many years ago I delivered Ries his Baltimore Sun. I recall the times I would stop to say hello. Ries would always have a smile on his face and kind words for me. I would comment on those giant azaleas on the front lawn, as I was always jealous how beautiful they were. He shared that he had a brother named Daniel Daniel. He would laugh and shake his head about the name. Although it has been many years ago from 7 Mile, I always recall those special people that touched my life! KEITH HARK, NYC Dec 20, 2016 09:05 PM So sorry to learn of Ries's passing.
