SCRIPTURE Acts 2:1-36 DISCIPLE Read Acts 2:1-13 1. Why is it important that Luke said they were together? Jesus told the disciples to wait together and pray. Why is prayer essential in preparation for being used by God? 2. What does the ability to speak in other languages say about the Holy Spirit and the mission of God? 3. What conclusion do they come to as the reason for all of this happening? 4. What does this say about the people? 5. What preconceived notions do people have that can be barriers to proclaiming the Gospel 6. When is a time that someone had a preconceived idea about who you are and what your motives are as a Christian? How did you respond? Read Acts 2:14-32 7. Why was Peter able to have authority in proclaiming the truth of the Gospel? 8. Why was it important to bring up the Prophecy from Joel? 9. Why did Peter only use God’s Word to bring these thousands of people to understanding? 10. Have you ever been more concerned with making your testimony sound awesome than simply telling the awesome story of the Gospel? Why are we tempted to do this and what does this say about the way we view the power of God’s word? Read Acts 2:33-36 11. How would you summarize what Peter is trying to say here? 12. What other questions or comments do you have from the sermon or study? DEPLOY • Why is it important that we talk about Jesus specifically, and not just a belief in God? • What do you feel more confident doing for God, knowing the Holy Spirit is present to help you? • Who are the non-believing people in your life? • Commit to spending time in God’s Word, so you can be better equipped to share the Gospel. • In your prayer time this week, ask God to work on your heart so the Holy Spirit can work through you to accomplish His mission.
